fit bit playing up!!

I have just bought a fit bit zip. Today after being in the gyml I added my calories burnt per my polar ft7 which in total was 420. The fit bit then adjusted to an extra 150 for the day which was fine. Then after syncing it added my manually inputted exercise aswel as the adjustment, so I figured fine. . I'll just delete what I put In manually and it will be right. No, it added that on to the adjustment too. I then attempted to delete the whole thing from fitbit and just manually put in what I had on my polar ft7. . But it just came back on and this time its over 1000!!! What the hell is going on! My zip is saying I burnt over 3000 calories now and I didnt! I've no idea what to do other than stop it syncing with my fitness pal and never using it again.

I personally don't have one, but from what I've read (I'm looking into getting one) you need to:
1- Log your exercise with hrm on fitbits website at the correct time: this from what I read will overwrite whatever reading fitbit had for that time frame
2- Sync with MFP
This should give you a correct account for calories burned and should prevent duplicates.
As for the readings today, I'm not sure what you could do to correct it. You probably need to adjust something on fitbit's site, but that's the only guess I've got.0 -
I have the zip as well - when I first starting to sync it to MFP it said NOT to enter ANYTHING on the fitbit dashboard. Only to enter food and actual workouts on MFP. The zip is basically just a pedometer in theory. It will tell you calories burned over a 24 hour period taking into affect your usual burn even if you did nothing..then it gives you added calories for any "walking".
Your actual workouts should be entered into MFP but not what your zip says for calories...MFP will adjust up / down accordingly0 -
Ok so when I finished working out I add my calories from my hrm on to fitbits website then sync. I know I went wronf in syncing but every time I try fix it im just making it worse. Probably going to take a bit of getting use to. Ive now deleted all my exercise and turned off my bluetooth. Im aftaid to manually add it my calories because it seems to keep adding it on every time. I now have 0 calories burnt which is kind of annoying cause I worked my butt off. I guess tomorrow is a new day and il have to be more careful0

This is exactly what I did and at first it worked ( I didnt go near fitbit website) something went wrong and it added my exercise twice. I thought it may have been because I put the exercise on mfp first and I should have synced the fitbit first? Whatever happened ive made it way worse trying to fix by deleting and adding again. Very frustrating!0 -

No - enter the calories burned into MFP not fitbit. Then sync. MFP will send data to fitbit correctly. I have been using it since January and have not entered ANYTHING other than measurements into fitbit. Everything gets entered into mfp0 -
?? you have it with bluetooth so fitbit should auto sync. Do you have MFP and fitbit accounts synced?0

Now I'm even more confused cause this is exactly what I did.0 -
Yes it auto syncs via bluetooth. But I did a manual sync too a few times. Should I not? I didnt think it would matter0

I've got a fit bit that plays up all the time.
At work, at home, in the office, in the morning, evening, and afternoon.
It's actually a huge distraction.
Please let me know if you find a solution,0 -
no it should not matter I have done that too. However make sure your fitnesspal and fitbit accounts are synced through the aps tab on here.0

Im afraid to manually put back in my burnt calories from the polar heart rate monitor cause the other times I tried to delete everything it adds it back in again and the calories burnt on my fit bit gets even higher and I feel like im cheating. So I have it left at 0even though it should be over 5000

Mine works perfect. MFP should be the hub. (i.e sync your FitBit to MFP not vice versa)0

It is definitely synced here I just checked. Is there anywere else it should be synced with.
Actually thinking about giving it to my mam it isnt worth all this hassle0 -
I'll check fitbits website and make sure its not synced that way too. Would that effect it? It is definitely synced on this website0

Add the HRM calories to myfitness pal - do not enter anything from the zip(ever - anywhere).. the zip to MFP adjusts only when you have taken extra steps for the day and MFP will add a few calories to your daily (will log as fitbit adjustment)..no big deal if they are not there. I personally pay no mind to that anyways. i use my Zip to make sure I am getting in 10,000 steps. The zip really is not good for much else than that lol0 -

I have never entered anything on fitbit !. It was synced with my fitness pal though and I have unsynced that. So now my fitness pal is synced with fitbit, but fitbit isnt synced with my fitness pal. I hope this will resolve it otherwise it just isn't worth getting stressed over and I'll give it away before it gets thrown at someones head! haha0

dont forget the calories burned while throwing it LMAO...did not think of the "hub" issue. If you had MFP synced to fitbit and not fitbit to MFP...that could def. be the issue.
Hope that works!0 -

You have some confusion the first day you use it so are going to junk it? Who cares if your numbers are messed up today - you know what they really are so it's not like you are going to eat back an extra 2000 exercise calories back or anything. Relax!0
-
First thing you need to do with a new Fitbit is to go to your settings and make sure you have your step length set correctly. I enter my food on the MFP site and my exercise on the Fitbit sight and feel it is more accurate that way. I used to put exercise on the MFP site and it synced to MFP but I feel it's more accurate doing it on Fitbit and putting down your exact times of workouts. It works fine.0

Junk it? No, I said I would give it to my Mam if it doesn't stop acting up. I dont eat back my calories anyway it isnt the point. I like to keep track what im netting week by week as I'm almost at my goal weight and need to work out maintence and this will be hard for me to do if im getting all these extra calories added on.0
