Ok folks...here is my question today? What is the best thing to eat before a session of crossfit, strength training, weight lifting? I have heard protein, but any specific kind better than another?
I tend to eat cheese before I run twice a week, but last night I needed something more to burn. I have myself on a scheule where I eat a snack around 2pm and then workout between 430 and 530. I have talked with some co-workers and they all have different ideas about food types, times to eat, times to workout, etc. I need you MFP. Please help me?

The best meal I find to have before training is something that digests easily and has lots of protein and carbs. You wanna stay away from foods high in fat/ sodium.

My favourite pre-workout meal has been overnight protein oatmeal.

I ususally have this 1.5 - 2 hours before training. You probably see it daily on my diary, it comes out to about 1,000 cals. You obviously don't have to use as much quantity.

I make it the night before, leave in the fridge overnight and it's ready in the morning. I use a cup of rolled oats with low fat almond milk and 2 scoops of whey protein. I also add pitted chopped medjool dates and a little walnut crumbs and cocoa powder on top.

    Hope this helps!

These days I work out at 5 am, so it's a quick iced coffee and breakfast after... My previous favs, a larabar, greek yogurt with gluten free granola (love go raw groats), A hard boiled egg, protein shake with almond milk, Lettuce wrap with turkey and cheese, brown rice bread with cashew butter. It just depended what time of day, and when I would be eating next. I would have a small portion 1-1 1/2 hours before.

These always worked well, and left me feeling great.
