Texas? *Around Copperas Cove/Kileen)

Hey all,

Moving from NNY, to Texas next week and wanted to get some input on the area, and gyms. Also, any runners in that area? Getting back into my halfs after a hip surgery, would love some advice on good trails, heard the area can be rough, even on Post. Add me if you'd like, always looking for new friends!

  • If by rough you mean the terrain, its not too bad. But in the sense of being a rough area to live in you hit the nail on the head. There are several groups that run on a regular both on and off post. Google Centex Race Series and you will find a lot of local races. Most of the larger 10+ mile races will be held either on post or in Austin. The livestrong marathon is by far the best in the area.

Yea, I heard the area was rough as in a sense of people. I dont want to jog my two year old around and hit a rough crowd. Thanks for the info on the races! I cannot wait to get there.

I used to live in Copperas Cove :) It's not "rough" Killeen is. There is a pretty duck pond in CC that has a jogging trail. Mostly the land is flat, over behind the CC HEB is a nice neighborhood with some hills.
