200 now, 140 goal!

Hi I joined up a few hours ago.

I went to the docs this morning as I'm sick of being 200 lbs.

I used to be under 7 & half stone & a UK size 4!!!! Then I had my first child & I was too scared to weigh myself as I was a UK size 22-24 & thats after giving birth!!!!! I always thought I wanted to go back to my pre-baby weight, & after our second child, really wanted my pre-baby size back (I was size 18-20 after second child). I mentioned to my partner about how I was feeling (depressed, lazy, ate to feel better) & stated I wanted to return to how I was when we got together (size 4), he told me in no uncertain terms that if I was to lose that much weight, he would leave me, then he showed me a picture of why.

Back then I ate what I wanted & when I wanted, I wasn't particularly healthy or energetic but I felt fantastic, I thought I looked fantastic! The photo he showed me was one of me in my prom dress, I was 17, (we met when I was 19),
he asked me what was wrong with my dress, I replied "it was too big"
so he asked what size it was
and I replied "size 6",
he asked why i thought it was too big
I pointed to the wrinkles in the dress around my waist, it was only my bust holding the dress up.

He then stated "I have a different view on this....
The dress is not too big, there's nothing wrong with it"
Then he told me to look at my coller bone in the picture...
I stopped smiling
Then he told me to look at my hands in the picture
I cried

My bones were protruding, I looked extreemly happy, yet extreemly ill!!!
Then he said if I get like that again I'm on my own because he won't sit back & watch whilst I screw my health up purposefully. I really respect that!!

I have Severe Chronic Back Pain, Hyper Mobility & Sciatica, I cant run let alone jog, I have had two emergency c-sections due to complications, I have been left with a very unattractive overlap.... If it was my scar showing I would happily show it to the world, as I have the best scar anyone could wish for, that scar gave me my children when I couldn't, It has taken me a long time to accept that fact & now I do I am proud!

I have set a goal, no longer do I want to be supermodel thin! Nope not me!

Today my goal is to be 10 stone (140 lbs)
Size 10-12 (minimum 10)
& I want my breasts to shrink... I can't keep affording a new bra every few weeks due to the wires trying to pop my breasts or giving up due to the weight of them!

The doctor has prescribed....
weight loss tablets
15 minutes on kinect sports per day
10 ab crunches to start then slowly progressing (due to my back)
1500 cal intake (however coming home I realised I only eat around 1000 as it is & I'm full)
& a special something my partner will enjoy just as much as I will! (LOL)

Well thats me.... I struggle to lose weight, & I'm starting to really go for it! I want to be able to fit into a dress I've only worn once!

thanks for reading!

Congrats on making the decision to get in shape. Best of luck to you. My only concern is that if you have back issues, you should not be doing ab exercises but instead focus that mid section on core training to strengthen your entire core. Abs are the top layer and crunches will not work the more important parts which are the ones that help you with stability, balance and every day function without pain!

welcome and congrats on your decision to work towards a healthier you!

the only comment i have is do not take weight loss pills. you don't need them, and personally i think it's a bad idea to "take a pill to lose weight" you don't know what is in them and what the long term effects of taking them are. stick to healthy eating and good exercise routines and you'll reach your goal without taking a chemical pill.

keep up the great work and you'll be happy with your results!

Thanks for sharing. You can do it!! My body changed so much after having kids too! My "baby", youngest of 3 turned 6 yesterday. I can relate. It's overwhelming and sad at times. But, I think you can do it, so can I! Good luck!!!!

I agree with bgelliot core training can help with the back issues definitely.

Hey good luck with it. You can do it. I'm struggling to lose weight after my children but only half heartedly tried. I'm the biggest I've ever been and its time for a change. Your story moved me. You were way too thin before. It will take time but we will get there. Good luck on your journey. Stick with it. I intend to xxx

Welcome to MFP! I scanned over all that you wrote and have a little advice to give you>>>>ditch the diet pills from the Dr. (there's more harm in them then good) & what exercises the Dr. wants you to do>>>go slow, start out with exercises that you're comfortable with, if you dive into what he wants you to do & you find you can't do it...POW you're going to hate exercising of any kind!!

Read the many posted threads here on MFP & hook up with some real "Dedicated / Motivated / Supportive" Friends here and you'll soon find yourself enjoying the benefits of both exercising & portion control eating.

    Good Luck to you

I have an ab trainer type thing (one where you place your head on the pillow and put your hands on the bars and lift at belly) I know i shouldnt be doing it - or so they have been telling me for the last few years, but i basically begged to be allowed as i certainly cant do any twists or hula hoops. at least the ab trainer i have for the crunches means if my back goes then im on a flat surface and can use my arms to lower myself again. I cant afford to go to the gym so im on my own.

The Diet pills have not been taken before/yet.... I do not see any harm in trying, I will of course look through all of the info leaflet. If I find that they are playing with my system too much I will of course stop taking them. The amount of meds I have been on in the past for my back, I am totally aware of different symtoms and what to look out for.

    Thank you for your concern.

I am glad my situation moves you, hopefully people will realise being skinny is not the be all and end all; being a healthy size is!
I have taken so long to finally be ready to loose the baby weight, my confidence was totally shot when i had my eldest, I guess I figured I'm my mothers daughter so I should be able to waltz out of the hospital with a 28inch waist like she did..... obviously that didn't happen & I realised I wasn't my mum lol. Now though I am happy the way I am, I am healthy, however I'm sick of not being able to walk in the summer due to my thighs rubbing together, not eing able to wear skirts etc.

I will do this! I'm determined to not be in pain all summer!

I did however go to bed with a headache, & woke up with it this morning! I ache all over! Think 15minute (much as it felt great at the time & I could have continued if I didn't have the school run) was a bit too long lol I have discovered I actually have muscles in my upper back.... blimey they hurt and I haven't even started the crunches yet!
