Low Cal Suggestions for Chinese

I'm so motivated and doing so well but I'm at a fairly new job and still getting to know people. Many of them invited me to go to lunch today at a Chinese restaurant so I said yes but I don't want to get off track. I've already resisted the donuts that were brought in today... ugh... any advice for low cal Chinese options?

I love Chinese food so I've done a little looking into this. It may be hard. Don't get rice. I'm not low carb or anything, but it adds a lot of calories. Don't get anything friend - if it says "crispy" that means breaded and fried. Teriyaki chicken is normally a good option. Or beef and broccoli. Also go easy on the sauce! The good news is that a lot of Chinese food is served with vegetables, so try to find a dish that has a lot. Lastly, portions make a big difference. Not all Chinese food is bad, but the portions tend to be pretty large. Just make sure you're not eating too much!

What everyone else has said -- beef & broccoli is a great choice. With a side of steamed veggies, you're good to go. And if you eat rice, steamed rice over fried rice.

Most Chinese restaurants have steamed shrimp and veggies with an option to get sauce on the side or not at all.

Some Chinese places have low cal options, like steamed veggies and meats made without sauces, brown rice instead of white, or salads with the dressings on the side. You could see if the specific restaurant has an online menu, select what you like from it, and then check the calorie counts here to get a basic idea of what is in it.

Soups are good, and any meat that is grilled with veggies. If you like shrimp or chicken breast better than the beef.

Do your research beforehand! Google the restaurants if you know which, check if they have nutritional info, if not, find out what the dishes are like and try to calculate the estimated calories and pick your best options!

    don't get anything fried/crispy/breaded
    get sauce on the side
request for lots of steamed veggies
probably some soup to fill you up if you're not eating rice (though watch the sodium!)
If you have rice, don't eat them all

If you'd like to indulge in whatever, portion out about half and doggy bag the other half so you wouldn't kill your caloric goal! Then either throw the doggy bag away after, give it to the homeless, or a friend or have it for dinner even!

    Good luck :)
