my go to is vodka mixed w/crystal lite or mio or any sugar free ice tea or lemonade mix....0

Once month? Yeah I think you'll be fine. I was drinking atleast once a week during my losing stages and I lost just fine.
I always stuck with vodka/soda though - clear, no sugars.0 -
I would say drink what you would enjoy. It's only once a month. You won't derail yourself. It's important that we learn to enjoy life and it's little pleasures (in moderation) without feeling guilty. That said, you'll do better calorie wise if you stay away from sugary mix or coolers.0

I have 100lbs to lose so that is why I'm being strict with myself maybe once I lose over 50 twice a month0 -
So I shouldn't gain any of what I lost back drinking once a month ?0
-
And you have lost 50lbs according to your ticker that makes me less nervous0

Just track the calories - if you're still in a deficit you'll still lose.
Alcohol is no different to food.0 -

more than once a month :drinker:0 -
Girl! I drink at least once a week! It's hard to give up my love for wine (: I am still steadily losing around 2lbs per week.
I thought about trying Skinny Margaritas tonight...
can of frozen diet limeade
12 oz. tequilla
24 oz. diet Sprite
one Corona Light
I haven't had them yet, so don't blame me if they are yucky!0 -

Not really. Alcohol is actually a poison.
Less body fat is burned. Alcohol is converted to acetate by the body, and it serves as a quick-burning fuel source. Acetate cannot be stored so the body uses it for energy before it turns to carbohydrates or fat. When acetate from alcohol is available for energy, it becomes much more difficult to burn the fat necessary for weight loss.
Empty calories. One gram of alcohol contains seven calories, but unlike calories from carbohydrates, fat, and protein, alcohol offers little nutritional benefit. A high-calorie cocktail or a couple regular beers can easily cause you to exceed your daily calorie requirement without providing the body with added nutrition.

ETA: If you want to drink once a month go ahead. It may stall loss for a couple days, but it's not the end of the world.0 -
I know once a month sounds restrictive when I get to the 50lbs down mark I might let myself have alcohol more often but I'm kinda trying to prove a point to myself at this point something along the lines of when I work hard enough to get my body in better condition it will be able to handle more because I mean at my weight I got here by being excessive I don't want to be that anymore0

As long as you drink in moderation and keep it within your calories and macro targets, it will not hinder your weight loss. For me that means about 2 drinks a few times a week. Any more than that and I have trouble fitting it in if I'm losing weight. That said, I find that extra cardio is very helpful with providing some extra "fun" calories.0

thank you all for your reply so far I will be logging on that once a month day which is today as you can see I have logged so far my diary is public so I will use some of the calories from today and make a few mixed drinks which i will log maybe diet soda and rum thats what I'm thinking0

one fatty meal won't make you fat any more than one salad will make you skinny. the same applies here. this is you life, not a diet. you have to continue to live your life. if not what's the point. drink whatever you like. enjoy it. enjoy time with your husband. yeah don't down 6 strawberry daiquiries but mostly only because it'll give you a tummy ache.
personally i drink straight whiskey.
eta - i have lost 54 pounds and i drink regularly. at least a couple times a week.0 -

I love beer!! :drinker:
If I know I'm going to have a couple I just make sure to work out & burn some extra calories. Normally 3 draft DosXX is the perfect amount for me and that's 390 calories which is only about 45 minutes on the treadmill.0 -
That's the best, add a lemon or lime squeeze too for a little flavor!0

I usually go for wine and if I'm out at a bar vs a drink at home I alternate water/drink. It's not stalled my weight loss. I just record everything. I've probably had a drink (or more) 1-2 times a month since January. I'm actually meeting an old high school friend out tonight and plan on enjoying a few drinks!! Enjoy!!0
-
I have 1-2 glasses of wine 3-4 nights a week with dinner. It's not enough to give me a buzz, but it is enough to enjoy with a meal and fit into my calorie goals without too many problems. I've lost 9 pounds in about three weeks, eating probably on average about 1800 - 1900 calories a day. I'm just trying to eat very healthfully and still enjoy the indulgences (like wine, cheese, the occasional dessert) that make life pleasurable.0

I have been trying to drink every other weekend. I enjoy drinking. When I drink I drink a bottle of Skinny Girl Pina Colada which is like 3 glasses and its around 577 calories. Then I take some shots of Jager with it. Those are around 100 calories per shot. I like to have at least 5 shots! I also do 1200 calories a day plus exercise calories, which is usually around 200 a day. I wouldn't be able to eat at all if I stayed in my calories! Not a good idea to drink when you have not ate all day. I really want to drink this weekend but I drank last weekend so I'm trying to talk myself out of drinking.
I did have an idea if anybody could answer this question. Would it be ok to not eat back say my 200 exercise calories each day (Mon-Fri) and have about 1000 calories left and then use those to drink on weekends? Does it work that way?0 -

If you're going over your calories repeatedly you might gain. Drinking ONCE a month is not going to do that. Why are you doing things to lose that you don't sound like you're willing to do to maintain your lower weight?0 -
what do you all measure your alcohol wit a normal size shot glass is 1.5ounces right0

What I was saying maybe I typed it in a confusing way is that I had bad habits which I am trying to change for good but I would like to let loose once a month maybe twice a month down the road when I exercise more vigorously and have proved to myself that this is a lifestyle change. I want to have a day once a month where my husband and I enjoy some alcohol, I donot plan to return to drinking on a regular basis even after i have lost the large amount I need o lose because I don't think my habits where healthy. I am asking for advice about what kinds of drinks can fit into 1500 or below calories on our once a month date nights.0 -

I MEANT I THINK MY HABITS WHERE UNHEALTHY LOL SORRY0 -
I would just suggest losing weight as "normally" as possible without resorting to too many extremes. It's easier to stick to that way in the long run instead of getting fed up and quitting or gaining everything back.0
