calorie question

I eat 1200 calories a day plus my exercise calories which is like 200 a day. Is it ok to "save" calories and use them days later all at once? Like for example if I save my 200 excercise calories Mon-Fri, can I use those 1000 on Saturday to drink? Will it make a difference?

Hi,
I am new to this reporting app, but in my personal and "physical" experience the answer is "yes." The only time it hasn't worked for me is if the foods are high in one macronutrient, ie. fats or carbs. And, I find it really difficult to continue dropping weight if I am consuming alcohol. So for example, I could be good all week, then have 3 drinks on Saturday night (as the saved up calories), and then it will take my body 2 or 3 days to recover. The scale will be higher- usually a 2 - 3 pound difference. In order to continue losing weight, I can't start saving calories again until I am back at the starting point, otherwise I will gain. If, however, I load up on more healthy foods (the equivalent calores that I would drink) I don't have the extra weight gain, and my body bouces back within a day.
My final thought is if you have a cheat day or a "saved calories day" and then experience an increase in weight, run. Running dehydrates the body so quickly that I can usually shed any excess water gain. Usually from salty foods after drinking!
I have lost 77 pounds (225# to 147#), but at this stage I am finding the slightest deviation makes a huge difference. So now, I barely drink and try to restrict eating out as much as a can (without losing all of my social life).
Hope that helps...and makes sense.0 -
If MFP has allocated 1200 then fine, and yes fine to save calories, many of us work on weekly basis, your body does not reset at midnight daily
I suggest you give it a go & see what works for you, it does work for many0 -
Technically, it should not matter. Your body is always metabolizing. Sometimes at different rates etc... However, every person is different. So, give it a try for a few weeks and see how your body reacts. Don't weigh in on Monday or Tuesday. A weekend of drinking usually affects water retention etc.... You have to live your life and adapt your exercise and nutrition around how you want to live. Otherwise you will never stick to it and you become a yo-yo dieter.0
