I cant cook and I need fast thats why I got hooked on fastfood to begin with. Now I eat lean cusines, fruits and vegies and keep my sodium below 2000mg and yet people keep telling me I dont eat right. What are some ways that I can adjust my eatting to intake less processed foods yet keep it quick for someone who is always on the go

are you busy in the evenings? you could buy more natural foods that you can throw together the night before for quick, grabbable food on the go the following day. like maybe grab a yogurt cut and an apple plus a baggie of granola and throw that into a brown bag in the fridge tonight so you can wake up and grab it on your way to work/school/whatever. do the same with a lunch (sandwich, banana, carrot sticks). I looked at your diet. It's not too bad, but very high in sugar. Maybe you could cut back on some of the donut-y things, pop and such and substitute milk and maybe lean cuisines that have more vegetables in them.
Also, snacking on raw vegetables is always good, if it's something you like. Cheese sticks are good too!
You are finishing your days pretty far under. Be careful not too eat too little!
People are always critical of others. Don't stress it too much. Listen to what they are saying. Perhaps they have some good advice instead of just criticism.0 -
First off you can cook. Don't make it more complicated than it is.
You need a few good supplies and follow simple recipes at 1st.
Keep to basics.
For Breakfast.
Oatmeal is easy. Instant is just hot water. Even not instant is 1/2 cup with 1 cup of water and 2 minutes in the microwave. Top with a little brown sugar or maple syrup and some cinnamon.
or
Greek Yogurt with some berries which are very low in calories by the way.
or
Egg White Omelets are easy. Very hot non-stick pan ( 6 inch ) throw in a little chopped vegi's of your choice. A slice of ham. Cook that for a minute or 2. Then 1/2-1 cup of Egg Whites. When nearly done use some laughing cow low cal swiss cheese. Fold over and let the omelet slide right into plate.
Anyone can make a nice Turkey Sandwich on a good nutritious bread (Try Ezekiel Bread, very tasty and very nutritious). A good high quality turkey lunchmeat, some lettuce (not iceberg), a tomato slice and some mustard (many types) and avoid mayo (If you cant then use Olive Oil Mayo, it is lower calorie, low fat, and tastes better).
Good quality soups are great for lunch. We enjoy the soups available in boxes at Trader Joes. 2 cups of the Latin Black Bean soup is 140 calories.
Then for pre-prepared foods make smart choices, read labels, if the ingredient have to many syllables and are stuff you have no idea what it is stay away from it.
Raw vegi's and fruit with you every day at work. No need to cook.0 -

You live in Las Vegas so I am assuming some technical college or other place has some beginning cooking classes. Find something that focuses on healthy. We all have to make a choice of convenience or health. I skip breakfast a lot not big deal to me. I could easily put some egg beaters on an English muffin with a couple slices of block cheese (avoid processed wrapped slices). Can also run through McDonald's or a bakery and get crap. Usually grab a yogurt and piece of fruit or some Kashi cereal and milk if I opt for breakfast. Healthy Life breads are pretty lower in calories and sodium. Get some low sodium deli meat, lettuce, onion, tomato and whatever else you like. Mustard had some sodium but calories are minimal usually. I go to Subway and it costs way more and about twice the sodium because they use a 2.5 oz chicken breast injected with 330mg of sodium. Convenience has its cost. Everyone has to set their priorities because we all have only 24 hours in our day.0

Is it working well for you?
I often eat a lot of processed and when people criticise my choices my general answer is "well, I got to be the leanest/fittest/strongest I've been doing this", possibly followed by "how are your choices working for you?"
There's lots of easy cooking, start simple. Something like a pasta Bolognese you can make a big batch of, then freeze it in smaller packs and use as your own 'ready meals'. Add some salad when serving for low calorie bulk and micronutrients.0 -

I like the idea of setting aside time to make meals for the week that I can take with me. What would you guys suggest like
hard boiled eggs and fruit for breakfast
turkey sandwhich for lunch
grilled chicken and veggies for diner?0 -
I make very easy things. I have a griddle - the kind you use for pancakes. I make turkey burgers and organic hamburgers on there. It's so easy and they're good. Also chicken, just marinade for an hour, throw in the over for about 20 mins, done. I have pyrex containers with lids I put my food in and take to work. Usually 1 thing of chicken will be dinner and lunch the next day. I watch my carbs and sugar but not protein so I'm over what this site says, but it's fine. Everything I cook takes very little time. I am no cook trust me, but I really like what I cook. Also, if you can find some good frozen shrimp, you can boil, then add garlic and olive oil - so good!0
