If you could give me your suggestions I would be so thankful. I just bought a new pair of Avia's and I hate them. I have plantar faciitis and these sneakers are not helping even with my inserts.

I enjoy my New Balance, but I had to test quite a few shoes before picking them up.
Try to find a running store that tests your feet. They have machines to test pressure and how you walk specifically to get the right material in the shoe. They're also darn comfortable compared to ones you pick up from a regular outlet store.
The testing is free. The shoes run about $80-$120 but last quite awhile with moderate use.0 -
For me, New Balance are the best walking shoes. But I think everyone is different. I went to Fleet Feet and had them analyze my gait. I wear New Balance shoes with inserts.0

^ I cant endorse this enough, I do a 60 mile walk every year and this is HIGHLY recommended - what one person suggests may not be the right fit for your foot/gait etc etc0 -
I have tried many but I currently love Asics. The running store is a great idea, I am getting ready to go to one myself. I suffered from plantar faciitis a few years back and the New Balance was what my Dr recommended also. Good shoes are a must and spending $80-$120 on them is pennys considering the abuse they are saving your food from. Good Luck, and if you need suggestions on plantar facitis please pm me!0

Yes!^
I have a wide foot & New Balance shoes are wider than most other "wides" ...... I guess if your foot is narrow ..... stay away from this brand.0 -
These are the same ones i have. i LOVE them. nice and light on your feet at a decent price depending on the color(i paid 50 bucks for the purple ones... but i have seen them go for 80 dollers in others colors which is still pretty good)
They are called "Nike Dual Fusion" they are categorized as "running" but i use them honestly just for walking, zumbaing, kickboxing, step cardio, ellipticaling.... just about everything and im always comfortable. FYI they come in SOOOOOO many different colors too!0 -
I bought some Saucony's and I wouldn't take a million dollars for them.0

Actually, I have narrow feet and New Balance shoes still work great for me.0 -
BROOKS! BROOKS! BROOKS!
preferably the "pureconnect" series.0 -
Back when I wore traditional running shoes, I wore Nikes. They always seem to fit and feel best. I think everyone is different. I recommend a good running store.
But now I wear New Balance Minimus..not a traditional padded shoe..more like a barefoot shoe. LOVE them.0 -
I just bought these, waiting for them to come. They got alot of good reviews, #1 rated gym shoe on Amazon.

I have wide feet and New Balance has a ncie variety of wide shoes.
What's nice about NB shoes is their branding system - I like the 609's, adn that means I can buy any NB shoes in the 609 line and they'll fit, which makes it a lot easier to find good deals online and not have to wworry about them not fitting when I get them in the mail.0 -
Highly recommend running store that fits shoes. Everyone told me new balance. Every pair I tried made my feet feel like they rolled in and when they had me back on the machine with them on it made my stride way off of where it had been. It was not correcting me just not the right shoe. I ended up with Brooks. I replace my inserts since the sole is still good.0

I haven't tried the Brooks (too expensive for me to afford), but I'm in LOVE with my New Balance. Great support and super comfortable.0 -
I heard New Balance was a great walking/working out shoe. Reading your post motivated me to go out and buy a new pair of New Balance. I think I am going to count the number of miles that I put on these shoes before buying a new pair.0

There are shoe stores that have a machine that can see how you step and offer shoes based on how you step. However I personally like ASICS and New Balance. I really like the NB Minimus the alternative to the five fingers.0

Get fitted for shoes, that's my best advice! Especially if you start running.0

I LOOOVVVEEE New Balance sneakers. I won't buy any other kind anymore because they're so comfortable.0 -
kswiss tubes!!! for men or women , ESPECIALLY if you have wide feet, great super super comfortable, and only around 60 bucks a pair0

Oh also I forgot to mention. In the military we would run so much I would change shoes about every 6 months. Asics have gel rather than foam so it doesnt break down as easily. Often times the tread would still be relatively intact with plenty left but the shock absorbing padding would be bad. So this is why I recommend Asics. New Balance has foam but seems to last longer as it is made better.0

Nike Womens Zoom Structure +14.
I discovered these last year after a year of wearing an Asics gel shoe, which was okay and I was prepared to get Asics again but couldn't find the same style, so I got these Nikes and fell in LOVE! I walk 15-20 miles per week, on flat feet with slight inversion, and these are the best walkers I have ever worn.
When they wore out and I went to replace them, I couldn't find them but this time I was not going to settle for anything else. I found them on ebay (Nike online didn't carry them anymore) and actually bought two pair in case I can't find them again next time. I probably would have bought more "extras" but they only had two pair in my big ol' size.
Here is the ebay link:

I have several pairs of New Balance and love them. They just have more padding than other brands. I also like how well padded around the ankle the shoes are. I usually pay between 30.00 - 35.00 per pair. I have found good deals at T.J. Maxx, Home Store, Marshall's, Beall's Outlet ect... Always try BOTH shoes on before buying and don't rush it and you'll find the perfect pair!0
