So ladies I am going on holiday a week on Monday I am wondering if any of you have done a detox for 7days and what the results were and what detox it was? Would like to loose as much as I can in the 7days. Thanks

This is a bad idea. It's unsafe, not needed, and any weight loss you achieve will be put back on within a couple days of eating food again.
Good luck.0 -
All you will lose is water weight, which you will put back on the minute you eat real food again - spend your time shopping for a flattering swim suit instead.
7 days is not enough time to lose any significant permanent weight safely or healthily.0 -
Detoxing is completely unnecessary and only eliminates water weight. If you have 7 days, just go low carb for a week where you max out carbs around 100g or a little less. This will in turn store less water and give you temporary weight loss.0

1) detoxes are unecessary
2) severely restricting your eating and then going on vacation where food and drink will probably be in abundance sounds like a recipe for binging and putting all the weight back on and then some.0 -
Why not just lose weight like a normal person and not resort to extremes to lose a lot of weight in just 7 days because of a vacation? You obviously know how, you've lost 19 pounds.0

With my 1200 calorie goal from here I am averaging at around 4 - 5 pound loss per week this detox is literally only to loose weight fast I fully understand I will put it back on and I'm not too bothered about that, I have lost 19 pounds in total already and was hoping if I detoxed that I would only put back that detox weight back on plus maybe a couple of pounds extra? But I'm not sure as iv never done one b 4?0

I apologise as well as I do realise I sound like a quick fix person which I am not i am happy to do slow weight loss and I am happy with that I have also heard that detoxing is good for some parts of the body to "flush the system out" and such? I'm only curious about this and not saying I'm defiantly going to do it I just wanted to hear from people who have done them and what they thought to them.0

If you want a quick water fix, that is on you, as we can not stop you but 90% of this forum are against it because we know it's a marketing scheme. But detoxes do not clean anything out. Your liver has that job. Like I stated, you can get a similar reaction from low carb and high fiber. You will poop a lot but you won't starve yourself. Also, someone with 20 lbs to lose, should be aiming for 1 lb per week.0 -
You will just sacrifice a bunch of muscle and organ mass. It will be damaging to your metabolism and it will put a great deal of stress on your body, contributing to potential health problems like blood pressure and fatigue.
It's a stupid thing to do. You won't lose any significant amount of fat.0 -

This is an excellent thread by someone who has done the master cleanse.
There is nothing to flush out - your liver and kidneys do this already. Do not fall for the snake oil salesman.
Also 4-5lbs a week is a very high rate of weight loss - you may well be losing muscle along with the fat.

What are you going to do while on vacation? - you will put it all back on as soon as you eat normally as its water weight for the most part.0 -
I'm going to a place that my boyfriends family owns so they have bikes there and so I am hoping to do daily exercise while on holiday too and the pool for swimming and will set myself daily goals whilst on holiday0

You don't need to detox if you have a healthy diet rich in nutrients. If you are having trouble getting in veggies or fiber consider making a green smoothie each day, you'll feel better. I use tea, ice, frozen fruit and a handful of greens and a teaspoon chia seeds in mine. Very tasty. You can also add in a bit of protein powder.0
-
Why do you need to detox? You appear to be young so one could assume you have perfectly good, functioning kidneys and a liver. They'll do all the detoxing you need. Just eat healthy.0

I had the shakes pretty bad and was convinced that Peter Dinklage was following me everywhere on a tiny giraffe.
Oh you mean... Like juice and what have you. My bad.0 -
I guess it depends on what you mean by detox. I do a 3 day reboot every season just to get me recommitted to a healthier lifestyle. I cut out dairy, meats, breads, pastas and grains. So that leaves just veggies, fruits, seeds, beans, legumes and nuts. And lots of water, more than my usual 8glasses a day, more like 12. During this time I go for walks, do more yoga and spend more time kinda just chilling. I kinda call it my 3 day spa. I usually feel rejuvenated, more energetic, sleep better, and usually more focus on goals in life, health and etc. I try to eat healthy, but usually by 3 months, little by little, junkie foods get a bit more common than I would like so it's just kinda a nice reset to do. Oh, and I'm still getting my calories in. You may lose some weight, but it will come back...however if it's a healthy reboot, it really does get out the gunk and even when you put on the weight, you feel lighter, less bloaty, less tummy issues and the like. Just my two cents.0

I would say that "loosing" 4-5 PER WEEK is pretty fast. I don't understand this number fixation. Your body isn't going to magically become what you want it to be in a week.
Why do you want to hit that weight by vacation, just say to say you were at that weight when you went on vacation?0 -

A pound is not just a pound..
A detox can help you shed 10 pounds fast..10 pounds of water weight, that is.
They also don't do your metabolism any favors. In my most fanatical diet/detox days, I was around my highest weight, since the weight loss isn't maintainable. Form sustainable healthy habits and keep the weight off!0 -
Forget the detox. Just cut off a limb. That weight will be gone permanently at least.
Really, even if you were 10lbs lighter in a week from water weight loss, you wouldn't look any different.

I like detoxing occasionally but not for weight loss, more as a... well, a detox. I've done up to ten days before and honestly, if you're looking for weight loss, there's better ways to do it. If I were you I would add in a few extra workouts and lower your carbs, sodium, and sugar. Also, adding resistance training will really help your body feel good when you go on vacation.0

You could go on one of those "detoxes" where you just drink those juice/vegetable drinks (as long as you have one of those blenders/food processors that you can macerates the veggies and not just juices them and spits out the pulp). Doing that for a week probably won't hurt you, but you need to make sure you get enough protein.
Whenever I have an event I have to fit into a tight cocktail dress for, I usually do the following the week before. (This is not much different than how I eat every day, but I just step it up a bit when I have to look extra nice):
Cut my carbs as low as I can stand. I usually keep my carbs to 100 grams or less, but I try to cut that even more. (Watch your fruit intake as certain fruits are very high in carbs.)
Eat lots of salads with lean protein.
Keep my salt intake as low as possible.
No alcohol.
Drinks lots of water. *Not drinking enough water will make your body actually RETAIN water.
I do extra cardio exercise. I cut back on the weight training as lifting heavy makes me retain water. I do more reps but with lighter weights. (This seems to work for me.)
**I just did this the other week for a big fancy fundraising gala we went to and I felt wonderful, had a nice flat tummy and turned many heads in my very fitted cocktail dress. {blush}0 -

AHEM I DIDNT BUY THEM ONLINE, JUST SAID THAT THEY ARE.THIS MONTH WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME DOING IT I JUST NEEDED A BOOST WHILE I TRAINED MY BODY TO BETTER HEALTH HABITS. DOESNT HURT MY FEELINGS THOUGH. IM DOING FANTASTIC .
SNAKE OIL DOESN'T CHANGE JUST BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT IT FROM A DIFFERENT SELLER. PERSON TO PERSON TRANSACTION, SUCH AS IN A GNC OR OTHER COMPARABLE DRUG STORE, DOES NOT MAGICALLY TURN PILLS INTO MIRACLES IN THE BODY.
YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF LEARNING A REASONABLE DIET WITHOUT USING EXPENSIVE CRUTCHES. YOU BUILD BETTER HABITS FASTER THAT WAY.0 -
