I just found out about this website program last week. I'm 5'5" and 145lb. I would like to go down to 115lb. I'm on a 1200 calorie/day. My problem is my late evening crashes. In the morning and early afternoon I'm good about drinking water, having my slim fast and chicken sandwich but later on after work, I tend to go through the drive through. 4 tacos later, I feel so guilty about not thinking about what I just shoved in my mouth that I want to throw it all up. How can I get over this mental state of shoving unhealthy food in my mouth?

  • Stash of bag of healthy snacks in your car. Things that won't be bothered by the heat. Buy WATER. If you are going to stop somewhere, stop at a gas station and get some jerky. Making changes is so hard, but if you make the right changes your hard work will give you amazing results.

Maybe you can try eating more snacks during the day like an apple or some yogurt, so you won't have the urge to eat the unhealthy stuff at night.

Here's what I found has helped me tons so I don't stop for food after work etc. so impulsively. Raw almonds (a serving is about 24) and a serving of raisins, mixed together in a snack size ziploc baggy. Works great to pack up a bunch of those and toss some in your work drawer, briefcase, car glove box (watch it on the raisins in the tropical Summer many of us are having though lol), purse, gym bag. etc.

Sliced apple and carrots, hard boiled egg, can you use the work fridge and pack some snack/mini meal foods in there for after work drive home? I think that's the biggest deal, the low sugar times that get us to grab food more impulsively. If you try a carb/protein combo that can help out so you don't have the urge to stop.

Not sure if you're eating 3 times a day or 5-6 mini meals but myself and others members on the boards share how it can really help keep the blood sugar leveled out eating every few hours. Like a good solid breakfast protein/carb/fat, then say apple slices and cheese chunks for midmorning snack. Lunch of maybe a great veggie salad with chicken or tuna or any other proteins that you like to add in (bring it from home, and make it healthy/yum and you'll begin craving veggies even more:tongue: ). Then same thing for midafternoon snack, pack a protein/carb combo, and if you need to move that to the drive home that'll work. By then it's nearing dinner time and if you feel the need for something a couple hours later same thing, small carb/protein mix.

Give it a shot and see how that works for you. I do understand impulsive when the blood sugar is low. I think alot of times when we stop for fast food that's really what it's all about, not eating often enough and then our sugars drop and our brain is no longer engaged at the fast food speaker!:ohwell:

Good luck, you'll do great, just takes changing our habits to healthier ones is all!

Welcome to the site. I totally recommend getting as many "pals" as you can for support and encouragement! Everyone here is just amazing!

I've been incredibly blessed with not having too many cravings, that being said....I do my best to stay away from super processed stuff...though I've been wanting ice cream and have indulged in the Skinny Cow truffle bars. If I were you I'd skip eating the Slim Fast stuff and go for REAL food, especially for breakfast. The sugar content alone in one of those shakes would send me to major cravings the rest of the day. HealthyChanges has some amazing advice about protein/carb mini meals, and thats basically how I eat through out the day. I eat mostly lean protein and then add in fruit and veggies.

    Good luck
  • Those are really good suggestions and congratulations on the weight loss Rhaeven :D

I would replace the slimfast with healthy, filling items like fruit, greek yogurt, oatmeal, etc. You're probably binging because the slimfast isn't filling you up. Protein and fiber will do a better job of that for the same amount of calories.
