Hi fellow MFPers!

I heard about MFP about three months ago from a friend. I went ahead, set up the account with the plan that I would be back once I finished my Masters. I graduated in May, moved to St. Louis in June, and now July is here and I am ready to get things going. I figured the first step to prove that I am serious about living a healthy life is that I actually came back to MFP like I planned on. Now, it is time to get serious and buckle down to lead a healthy life.

I have always been a "healthy" person. I am a girl with curves, but I was quite active until about 4 years ago. The guy that I was dating was diagnosed with cancer and my life became centered around him instead of taking care of myself too. Over the past 4 years, I have gained 40 pounds (I know, right!?!). Now that life is starting to calm back down, i am ready to begin doing what is needed to get back to my old, healthy self.

I enjoy bicycling, hiking, camping, and going for walks. I am fascinated by people who run; since I have never been a runner, I would love to begin training for a 5K. That is one goal of mine, and I am sure more will follow. So, if anyone is out there in the St. Louis area and has some advice for a new girl in town looking to make a change, I am all ears. Oh, and if you aren't from St. Louis, i am all ears to you too :)

You know as a woman we always put people b4 us, I can see how you put your boyfriend's needs b4, after and all around yours. Hope that he is doing ok and that he appreciated you and your help.
Only thing I have to say is...
DIG IN DEEP!!! and KEEP IT MOVING!! :)

I am proud of what I accomplished today. After work and dinner, I went on a 1 hour walk and did three miles. I am proud of this mostly because the neighborhood I live in is rather hilly and I am practically walking at an incline the entire time. I also was able to jog for about one minute; simply testing myself to prove I CAN run.

My only oops for the day were the little tootsie rolls and the doritos. I will have more will power tomorrow :)
