Coconut milk for calcium?

Options
Someone told my hubby yesterday that you should not be drinking cow's milk, but have coconut milk to get your calcium.
I thought that coconut milk was really bad for your cholesterol?
Anyone heard about this??

The coconut milk that comes in a can is probably not great for you, but I think they are referring to the coconut milk that is sold in the refrigerated section near the almond milk. This stuff generally has no cholesterol, though the amount of calcium varies by brand. For example, 1 cup of Silk coconut milk has 0 mg of cholesterol and 45% of your daily calcium needs, whereas So Delicious (which tastes better to me than Silk) has 0 mg of cholesterol but only 10% of your daily calcium.

For what its worth, I've had problems with cholesterol over 200, and adding in coconut-based products has not prevent my cholesterol from going down. Your mileage may vary.
