need some help with trying to meet my calorie count

Hi ((((((((everyone:flowerforyou: )))))))).....I am having a dilemma pretty well since I have been here (6 days)......I am not getting enough calories.... what I can consume in protein is 48 grams..... the vegetables (salads) mostly have protein in them so those different kinds of vegetables (salads, asparagus, celery, spinach, carrot)....the only vegetable I came across that does not have any protein are green, red, or orange peppers.......I am eating two full (small ones) per day.....I don't want to eat any more to get my calorie count up to what it should be........does anyone one have any suggestions as to what I can do to to raise my calorie count which does not raise the protein count (ie) like yesterda I still had 666 calories remaining but my protein level was -8.....the bottom line is that I am not getting enough calories.. thanks so much for your help....hugsssssssssss Linda

Hi welcome! I do believe many people on this site recommend 1/2 - 1 gram of protein per lb of lean body weight.. I am no expert but according to calculations i have 120 lbs lean body weight ..I weigh 196 lbs. So you can eat more protein! Dont go by the nutrients set here you can go into goals and change them yourself to 30% protein 30% carbs and 40% fat.

Again this is stuff i do and by many peoples recommendations:flowerforyou:

Open your diary so we can have a look. MFP tends to set protein levels as low by default.

Don't stress the protein numbers on here - they are very low, and you can up them quite a bit.
I am not at my computer at the moment - if someone else does not chime in with how you can change your macros I will come back later and give you more information....

As an example you will see I eat over 150g of protein a day - mine is on the high side as I follow a Paleo lifestyle, but even if you don't you can (and should) actually eat more protein - especially if you are working out

You will have an extremely difficult time eating too much protein. Over on protein is perfectly fine.

Hello. It's actually ok to go over your protein, MFP sets it very low. Ideally it's 1 protein for every pound you weigh (from what I've read) so concentrate more on the calories than anything. & In regards to extra calories, nuts are a good one, full fat cheese, full fat milk, avocados, bananas ect will get you there much quicker without eating much more food if you find yourself full on what you already eat.

    Good luck :)

Don't forget to count your Olive oil that you use in your dressing/cooking. those can help up your calories intake quite fast too.

I looked at several days of your diary, and every single one had hundreds of calories left to eat. You have plenty of calories to add protein-rich foods to your day: Greek yogurt, jerky, cottage cheese, extra servings of meat or fish at lunch and dinner, eggs for breakfast along with your coffee. Also, stop with the "quick add" calories--you have no idea what your actual macro breakdown is if you don't log accurately. If the exact item you ate isn't in the database, either add it or pick something close--the database is huge, so there's likely to be something similar.
