Bladder problems

Options
So for years now I have been having some bladder issues. I've brought it up with my doctor numerous times and I go for ultrasounds and urine tests however nothing untoward shows up. I have Pap smears every two years. My issue is that I always feel like my bladder is full. I can go to the toilet and wee and then 10 minutes later I have to go again. I do drink a lot of water but I don't think that is the issue. When I go to the toilet I try and get as much wee out as possible and when I do I push and strain. It is beyond frustrating.

I'm sorry if this is a bt TMI but I need help!

TIA

Have you had kids? I have 2 and after the last baby (1.5 yrs ago) my bladder is shot...I need to have surgery to fix the problem but I'm a big chicken. In order to run for 20 minutes, I have to go and I'm almost to the pee your pants point in 20 minutes. As embarassing as it is, I have to wear liners 24/7 because every laugh, cough, jump I'm leaking and inevitably I wet myself atleast once a week. I'd suggest seeing an urologist, they gave me some exercises to try and help but my bladder is so shot that they haven't helped much.

frustrating! Have you been to a urologist? If not, definitely do so. Your insurance company may/may not require a referral, even if they do not, the specialist might require a referral. Make sure that the urologist you see is a participating provider with your insurance company. If you do decide to see a specialist, you may inquire about anything that you can do to prepare for the visit. Also I would suggest checking out the Mayo clinic web site and try typing in different key words or conditions - excellent site that also includes suggestions to prepare for a visit.

    Good luck to you:flowerforyou:

You should really go and see a urologist. They may want to put a scope into you urethra and into your bladder to see what is going on. Insist that your doctor sends you to one. If they don't/won't find another doctor.

Growing up - I had bladder and kidney infections several of which sent me to the hospital, so here are a few suggestions for bladder care I've picked up along the way: try kegal (sp??) exercises - they tighten all the muscles down there; drink 100% pure (no sugar added) cranberry juice (there are cranberry pills out there, but I've never tried them) - cranberry juice kinda cleans the bladder out like a detox for it; let things air out after showering - this is more of a preventative maintenance suggestion, I've used a hair dryer or baby powder; if you haven't been to the specialist, then try to go and get their opinion. Also, I realize most of these suggestions pertain to infections, not bladder size, but when I was little the only symptoms I ever had was a "full-feeling" even after going and then a huge temperature spike...so I do hope some of these things will help bring you relief.

You sound like me 3 years ago. The issue was a huge fibroid growing in my uterus. I ended up having a hysterectomy because the thing was growing out of control. My uterus with the gigantic fibroid and another smaller one was the size of a bowling balls so you can imagine how squished my bladder was. Have you checked with your gyno?

OMG, yes i have this problem too!!!! I've had it for a few years now. I assume it may have come from too many times of holding my urine at night (it's sad I know, but I hate getting out of the bed--especially over and over). I told my doctor about it when I was in high school, and she even sent me to a urologist, but they couldn't find anything. Since then, I've just gotten used to it...though it's really annoying!! I just recently got over a UTI, but I don't know if that is connected (since I've never had one before then). I don't know what this bladder problem is or how to cure it, but I'm a little relieved to hear that I'm not the only experiencing it! Hopefully we'll find the help we need. Until then, I'll just keep believing! Jesus heals!

Thanks everyone for your advice. I am booked into my doc next week. I am determined to get this sorted. I've been living with it for 5+ years now and it does kinda run my life, so it's time to get fixed! I will push my doc for a urologist!

:flowerforyou: I'm the same. I run with the thickest damn liners on, Tena pads are fantastic during my run, but so damn obvious I'm wearing it. But I'd rather that be known than wet my pants mid way through my run. Did that once a few months ago at the gym..... no idea it had even happened till it was obvious to not only me but the person on the elliptical behind me. I've not gone back to the gym since.

Pelvic floor exercises don't do much when you can't even feel the muscle contract. I blame the horrid childbirth I had with my son where the Dr actually did more damage to my insides than actually giving birth.

You get used to it. Running is the pits with such a thick pad, but I look past that in order to do the one thing I love....running. Other than that it's small thin liners for every day stuff & forget about being able to walk & talk at the same time. Even having a conversation while walking can set off a flow.

It sucks when you are not even 40.
