What's people opinions to adding black beans to a diet/life style see I can't eat grains/gluten def no no due to being a celiac ill occasionally have chicken and rice soup but regret it after I'm trying to add more fiber to my diet being I'm having issues converting to this major lifestyle change! I recently found out I was a celiac. Ugh

Beans of all sorts are great. They're naturally low fat, they're a good source of protein, and, like you said, high in fiber. If you go for the canned version and not the dry version, rinse them really well to help reduce the sodium. I usually serve black beans on taco night at my house. I also like them for lunch with some cheese and salsa and chicken. Yum.

Love black beans! I rinse them first then add my own seasonings and sometimes a bit of olive oil. I'll use them in a one pan burrito type mix - chicken, mushrooms, cheese, olives (whatever you like/can have) or even beans and quinoa instead of chicken. Make soups, chilis, etc.

Its about 170 cals per 1/2 cup serving, and good fiber.

Love them. Have them everyday over brown rice with salsa and chicken for lunch.

hi new friend! you can add them to anything. i put them in soup, stir fries, salads (really really good in salads!), salsa.

you can also drain them, mash them, add some egg, grated carrot, sliced up spinach. and turn them into veggie burgers!

I usually throw a handful of rinsed beans (black, kidney, garbanzo, etc) on my salads to get some added protein, esp when I don't have lean protein (chicken, fish, beef) to add to the salad.

LOVE beans of all kinds-- having black beans for lunch, as a matter of fact.

I prefer to make my own rather than get canned ebcause then I can make them without salt and put the spices I like in them (usually onion, garlic, and then chili spices.)

Add me to the list of those that love black beans. Currently I am having them with a brown rice/veg/protein mix for lunch. I buy the Reduced Sodium canned ones and rinse them well. I add a packet of the Uncle Ben's ready rice brown rice and a bag of frozen broccoli florets. Mix it together and divide in three. That plus 4-5oz protein and some salsa make up my lunches.

I also like microwaving the beans and mashing them up with a little olive oil to make my own 'refried beans'. I just use oil and/or water to get the consistency I like.

They are easy to cook in the slow cooker, too, which lets you season/salt them to your taste.

Agree, especially as a vegetarian, I eat lots of beans! I buy the canned and rinse them well... you can make them into burgers, or just eat them as beans added to salads, pasta salad, salsa, tacos, with rice, they're so versatile you can use them in so many different ways. I mix black beans, kidney beans, white beans together to make chili. Or use chickpea beans and make some hummus! :)

I add black beans to almost every soup/salad that I eat. They are easily available at the cafeteria at lunch, so I take advantage!
