What is the "digestive fire"?
Sounds like a medical issue.

What is the "digestive fire"?
I take Zantac for that.0 -
If this helps you hit your calorie deficit, that's all well and good.
However, there is no actual reason in terms of metabolism, fat loss, etc, to do it this way. Personally I like a smaller lunch and bigger dinner.
This guy always speaks truth! :flowerforyou: I like to eat most of my cals at dinner, and I eat my fat/carbs/protein/whatever whenever the hell I feel like :smokin: If it works for you, that's great! Keep it up. But when you eat your calories really doesn't matter.0 -
It seems reasonable to me to eat most of your calories at the time of day when you are the most active (I assume that's what you meant by metabolism being at it's peak).
For me, that is in the evening. I sit in a car or at a desk for most of the day from waking till about 6:00 p.m. So my biggest meal of the day is dinner, after my workout. That's when I am most hungry.
On the weekends I may have my biggest meal earlier, depending on what we are doing.0 -
What is the "digestive fire"?
I think it's what happens when you eat too many hot peppers.0 -
I eat most of mine in the evening after training and that seems to be working.
Where did you read that metabolism is at an all time high at "lunch"?0 -
:noway:
I have lost close to 40 lbs now, by doing all of the things on your 'no' list.0 -

Congrats on the loss! :flowerforyou:0 -
Wait a minute...rewind. I skipped the suggested meals at first because I really didn't care, but for S&Gs I read it.
"Dinner shouldn’t be eaten after 7 p.m. because your body’s digestion gets weaker at night and cannot process food as well; undigested food is turned into toxins and often stored in your fat cells."

undigested food is turned into toxins
I wonder what toxin "undigested" pop tarts turn into.0 -
I actually saw this on Dr. Oz a few days ago. No, I don't normally watch Dr. Oz, but i was flipping around and ended up watching the segment for the laughs. The woman who was promoting this also said that not being able to lose weight was caused by toxins stored in your fat cells. And that brushing your skin with a $20 oven mitt would release the toxins.0

I do this, I told my Doctor about it and he agrees that this is the best way. Especially since he lost a ton of weight himself. lol (Ironic yes... lol)0

That turns into a big log of toxins inside your colon. It is also known as poop.
Also, iBreatheMusic, physicians know about as much about nutrition as I do (hint:not very much).0 -

Doctors know surprisingly little about everyday nutrition and weight loss. There's very little time given to it during medical school, and the attention that is given is very traditional.0 -
Wow...nice post...I'll definitely try this during my last two weeks of insanity...0

You've got to stop listening to Dr. Oz -

I'm sure you're trying to be helpful OP and this may help some people stick to their calorie deficit, which is what causes weight loss. For people like me, though, these arbitrary rules would make it much harder for me to stick to my goal because I like to eat most of my calories in the evening. When my husband is deployed it's not unusual for me to have half of my daily calories after 7 pm. For weight loss meal timing is irrelevant (assuming that everything else is kept the same), so people should eat when they prefer.0

Nonsense. This will vary by specialty and physician but many physicians are well versed in nutrition. Many are not. Most specialists are well versed for nutrition as it applies to their field, while they may not have to overall knowledge of a registered dietician.0 -
Oh, crap. I'm. Doing it all wrong. lol0

So, at 7 pm the light switch turns off in your digestive system? What about daylight savings time?0
