    the diet concept has helped me stop smoking for four years......i know eating ice cream can be done on a diet, but for some people....like myself, one scoop of ben and jerrys becomes half the tub.
    for those who cannot keep the moderation.....its best to avoid it altogether

    its the same with smoking....

    anyway....i asked whether it will one day be banned, in the next 18 years at least.......(no preaching about stopping smoking was asked for :) )

    also if smoking is banned from shopping centres, hotels, bars, clubs, cinemas.....etc

    then wont it be banned from everywhere else? then where can people smoke?

    It's been a scare tactic for 60+ years and the right is still terribly misinformed about what it actually is.
    So anytime someone has a liberal idea thats new or progressive, they're a communist.

    and fascist all at the same time...:laugh:

    Though I find this post bizarre, I think as a country, our leaders are already dangerously flirting with communism honestly.
    One by one our rights to make decisions for ourselves are being stripped away
    Sorry, but smoking around others who don't want it around them isn't stripping your decision..............it's saving ours. Choose to smoke if you like, but do it around other smokers.


    And I used to smoke so it's not a biased decision.

    but i liked smoking.....i never had any negative outcomes from it. I dont want to be manipulated into doing something which i dont think is wrong....
    Trust that is DOES affect your air sacs making intake of oxygen less efficient. Also trust that has carcinogens in it. As a former smoker, I tried to justify my smoking with how fit I was against non smokers. While I may have been more fit, if compared to someone of the same caliber who didn't smoke, I got my *kitten* handed to me.

    And I think it's hilarious that people are so blind to see what's actually happening in America. Government is too big and too much into an individual person's business. If you don't believe we're headed for a Socialist society then good luck to ya.

    While I'm not against someone making money, the problem lies with those who have money making the rules against those who don't. For every success story, you'll find 1,000 failures or hardships. I'd rather try to help the thousands than just one.

    Hi there

    This is just a question i am putting out there- do u think all smoking will be banned in the future and ciggerates will be illegal?

    I am a non smoker of four years and my husband and me always said when we stopped smoking- it will not be forever. Once our youngest- who is ten weeks now- turns 18 and leaves home (at 18 hopefully)..then we wll start smoking again. It may be long way off- we are looking at 2031, but its still something we both look fwd to.


    However......the world is changing. do you think come 2031 ciggerates and alcohol will be contraband? that the world will be non smoking, non drinking .....that those who engage in 'sinful acts' will be outcasted?

    do you think we will reach a stage where those who smoke will be incarcerated?

    do you think everyone will be eating healthy food, taking regular exercise and we will be in the 'ideal state' where there wont be room for outcasts who like to light up?

    I have to ask (since I've been trying and trying to quit)... Why would you want to start back after not smoking for 18 years??

    I highly doubt smoking will be banned. Too much of a legal and constitutional rights issue for that to happen.

    Now I wouldn't have a problem with a smoking ban at all because a) I don't smoke and b) the smoking ban inside bars and restaurants here in Lincoln is the greatest thing ever.

    exactly! one by one those who smoke/drink are being frowned upon by self righteous people who think they are better ......and eventually, i think these things will be banned.

    As an ex-smoker I will self-righteously frown upon your desire to start smoking again. That is so bizarre.

    The govt learned their lesson with prohibition. I'm willing to bet marijuana will be legal by then, actually.

    And ciggarettes will cost around $20 a pack.

    Everyone would live longer if they did make it illegal, which the government and doctors wouldn't be happy about, they want you to be sick that is why cigarettes and alcohol are legal but marijuana isn't. Cigarettes and alcohol are greatest source of population control and provides billions of dollars to doctors/insurance companies/major companies/etc. I wish it would be banned because we would have less pollution and I wouldn't be exposed to all this second hand smoke, and I would have few more relatives around if it wasn't for the smocking habits. But to each their own, it will never be illegal, not in our life time at least.

    Please read Alan Carrs Easyway to Stop Smoking, it costs next to nothing and it'll banish any thoughts of looking forward to smoking.

    As for whether it'll be banned? No way, there's money in tobacco and money in people trying to quit tobacco (unless you stick it to em and read the book!)

    Again, PLEASE get the book, trust me!

    You won't like it when health problems start to set it, you should feel blessed that child came into your life who will spare you years of your life. Sure there is few rare cases of smockers who live long, but most people don't, just look at how many people die every year from smocking and how many diseases are directly related to smocking, I have lost family members to it and my dad is fighting for his life right now because of cancer he got because of decades of smocking, he quit 15 years ago but is just now paying for it. There is nothing "wrong" with smocking, other than the damage it does to your body.
