u know what stinks

Don't get me wrong I love looking at other peoples pictures so my husband as lost 35ish pounds and you can totally tell people tell him all the time wow you look great you lost alot of weight and you can truly see it on him

Me on the other hand lost 31 lbs and you seriously can not see it - I get that oh yah you look good to but you know its a pitty one because they know your losing weight also but u know they are thinking where on earth did you lose 31 lbs at

I have pictures and I have measurements and the measurements have barely moved and only one little part of my picture even looks just a slight difference then when I started but unless i am topless you won't see it

Anyways I know I am doing good just wish I could see more of a change
I love seeing other peoples pictures 30 lbs gone and they look great and you can tell
Just wish mine would do the same - It will probally be closer to 50 lbs gone before I can truly see it

Anyways that was just my pitty party for me today

Take a lot of candid pictures, and compare as you go. You'll notice the little changes when you look side by side.

31 pounds is a ridiculously awesome accomplishment and it means that what you are doing is working. Be patient, keep it up, don't lose your drive, because you are 20% of the way to your goal!!!!

    Stop the pity party.

You've lost 31lbs and that's great. Next time you're at the grocery store, pick up three 10lb bags of potatoes. Feel how heavy they are. Then remember that you used to have all that extra on your body. Even if you can't see it yet, your body appreciates it.

You will get to the point where people start noticing. And when they do, you'll be flooded with compliments. So, no pity party and don't give up!!

The bigger you are to start with the longer it takes to really see the difference. I notice people's faces are usually the first place you really see a difference.

I understand... and I agree with above poster - the bigger you are to start, the longer it takes to notice. I mean- if you were 300lbs, and you lost 30-- you'd hardly notice. But if you were 160, and lost 30-- you'd notice. So take it all into consideration.
I started close to 250lbs, and it took losing about 40-50lbs before you could really notice. I was disappointed sometimes as well, when I saw family members (at about 30-35lb loss) and they didn't notice. But by 50lbs - Everyone noticed! Keep it up!!! You'll get there!!!

I hear ya! I have went from 196 to about 175 and I thought 20 pounds would make a big difference. However, it really hasn't in the way I look overall. However, I can now do 25 (boy) push ups, can run 5km without stopping, can do more crunches then I ever thought I could so...I know I am improving a lot. It is just going to take time. I think it is going to take me another 15lbs to be wearing different clothes etc. You just have to be patient....... but I do feel your pain!!!

    This is good advice.

When I get upset that I've lost "only 20" pounds, I pick up a bag of cat litter in Wal Mart that's 20 pounds. That's quite a bit of weight! You've done good, you're doing good, and you're going to continue doing good! That puts you in the win column!

from what I've seen of other people..... when you lose a lot of fat but can't really see a change, it's because you lost back fat that you didn't even know was there.

But you should still be very glad it's gone, because people who first discover their back fat from beach photos are never happy to see it.

and even if it's not back fat, it's still fat that's gone forever from somewhere.

I am 5'11" and my start weight was 258. I lost 20 lbs really fast (due to stress) & my cousin noticed (but really only because he had seen me at 258 & then not again until Thanksgiving after the 20lbs was gone). Everyone else started noticing around 30-40lbs. My close family didn't comment (& even then only one person has--my dad--& said he could tell in my face) until I'd lost 45.

    Don't lose heart.

Keep emotionally rewarding yourself by reminding yourself how far you've come & how in just a matter of time, the difference will be jaw-dropping.

Also, the idea about picking up all those potatoes.. Well, that's a fabulous idea. Do so & think about how what a burden you have already lifted off of your body. Grats on your progress so far, and keep that chin up!

When I started at 373 pounds, it took about 60 pounds before there was any visible difference.

I was there. I didn't see a real change for the first 45-50 lbs and even at the 55lb mark my family saw pictures and didn't notice a difference. The middle shot is the pic my family saw, it was the first and only picture I allowed up while I was losing weight. By the time they saw me in person I was just a few pounds more than the last picture. Its not a race to have other people notice though and if you just keep going I promise you will see the difference soon.

    Hope this helps:

I get that same feeling when I hear people say oh, I lost 24 pounds and I'm down 3 sizes, when you are short it really goes fast! I'm like, I've lost 24 pounds and I'm down, um, um, um, still haven't had to buy new pants so I guess I'm down 0 sizes, seriously!!!

So while it may not stink like feet, I totally hear ya. Carry on and you will see the results you want eventually. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :flowerforyou:

    Like 10lb bags of potatoes.

OP, I saw your post about working hard on the elliptical. You are making progress and have the dedication to see success. People will notice when they notice. What matters is that you know you are improving yourself and feel confident about that.

You lost a large toddler. I have a whole adult to lose. But, anyway I think that is great even if you can't see it, I would bet on that you have other noticeable changes like stairs being easier to climb. It might be easier to tie your shoes. It's not quite as hard to make healthier food choices. Some days exercise is fun. Focus on your health and the weight loss that brings a smaller size will come. Thanks for allowing me the space I need for a pep talk.

Are your clothes fitting the same?
Are you wearing the same exact clothes you did 31lbs ago?

Try going for a new pair of pants or a couple new shirts. Find some that maybe fit differently than what your wearing.

Just a thought! take it or leave it.

Don't let yourself get down tho. You have made awesome progress and a time will come when people notice, and notice a lot.

I've only just myself started noticing the losses across my body - those who see me day in day out, don't notice as much either - I have dropped a bit clothing wise - and donated all my larger size comfy clothes to advoid temptation, but I got bought a dress at christmas, a size smaller, to work towards, and tried it on weekly, and yes, couldn't even do the zip up, and its just seeing that zip go that little bit higher (still not fully up yet, but thats being worked on!), you have done really well and little things all mount up!

How do your clothes feel? Even my hubby (apologetically) has said that he doesn't see much a difference yet, but I feel it in my clothes (pants are much looser, I'm wearing shirts I wouldn't dream of a couple months ago etc) and I feel great. Hold onto that until the rest follows!!
