Hey guys!!
First I want to thank all of you for the great advice. I started my journey about two months ago at 233lbs..the heaviest I've ever weighed. I am now down to 216. I would like to keep going and I have recently gotten very serious about tracking everything and working out everyday. I have a hard time getting to the gym because I work fulltime and my husband is in Afghanistan so I don't have any one to watch our kids. I do have an elipitcal at home that I have started using everyday as well as some five lb weights. The problem is I know the eliptical isn't enough. I just know NOTHING about working out. I try to go for long walks everyday as well. I just need help with everything in general. I have rid my diet of all things sugary and fried. I am trying to limit my carb intake, but saying that I'll never eat pasta or wheat bread is too much for me. I am trying to make a lifestyle change, but I would also love to surprise my husband at the end of the summer when he comes home from a year long deployment. I will literally take any advice anyone can give me. I am 5'8 and I weigh 216lbs. I eat anywhere between 1200-1400 a day.

Since you have the hand weights at home a video like 30-Day Shred would probably be a great addition to your workout routine. You can get it for about $10 in the store or free on You Tube.
You don't have to cut out pasta and bread completely - just eat them in moderation. Also don't think you have to be perfect all at once. Make changes gradually - like first cutting out the fried food and working your way up to limiting the pasta more for example.
1200 cals is a little low - I hope you're at least eating back your exercise calories. Check out the In Place of a Road Map threads (do a search they should come up) for some great tips.
Good luck!0 -
30DS is a good workout and has awesome results. I agree with pp 1200 calorie is a little less. Start with 1500 if you can. Eating too less will have an impact on your body fat %.0

You definitely need to eat more. As counter-intuitive as it is, you need more calories in to burn them off.
I am 5'5" and weigh 194. I need to eat 1600 on my off days and 2000 or so on my workout days. Do this for a month and you will see the difference.
Do the videos that you can find on youtube. I dont do those since I have a personal trainer, but I see and hear on this site were people just love them and get great results. On the days that I dont go to my trainer I do resistance band training at home and walk on my treadmill. a 15 min fast walk and a 45 min resistance band workout burns around 500 cals. This allows me to eat stuff like pasta and bread (in moderation) when I want but still lose. You can find plenty of band training workouts online.0
