advice about net cals

not sure how these work.....so an idea my goal is 1380 for the day. I don't eat back what body media has for mr from sleeping which is usually aroun 210 cals. By the end of the day, I average 500 cals burned from workouts. My net right now is only 847, is this bad?? Is this saying that I relly only consumed 847 for the day?

Hopefully someone else can explain too... but here it goes.
I am sedentary during the day so MFP said that I need 1200 calories per day to "survive". So if I do absolutely no exercise, MFP wants me to actually eat 1200 calories. Now let's say that I exercise and burn 500 calories. I have eaten 1200, but burned 500 of that off leaving my body with 700 calories to work with, with MFP wanting me to consume another 500 to make up that 1200.
So you yes, you consumed 1380, but turned right around and burned 500 off... so your net is 847.

Your net needs to be your daily goal.
So, you eat 1380 but exercise off 500... you need to eat another 500 calories getting your net back to 1380. So, you would actually need to consume 1880 calories total for the day.
Having a net intake too far under your BMR (which is probably above the 1380 MFP gives you) is not a good thing. Now and again is ok but consistantly netting too low increases lean body mass loss and can lower your metabolism.0 -
