Be consistent with everything, eating and lifting. Do not be one of those guys who goes to the gym and spends an hour curling dumbbells, the lower body is as important as the upper. Work out how many days you can make it to the gym and work a plan around it.0

Work with a trainer. It's worth it for the great results!0

I disagree. Trainers are overpriced and often not too smart. If you lack motivation they are great but if you are already a motivated person you don't need them. You can set up your own routine inside a day with a good bit of internet research. I never had a trainer in my life and I'm happyish with my results.0 -
Especially for a beginner, but good for anyone, a full body workout is probably the best way to go. Here are some links to some articles. It can seem overwhelming, and you WILL get confused, but eventually settle in.

A few tips:
Build your routine around compound lifts:
Bench Press
Squat
Deadlift
Overhead Press
Dips
Pullups
Nutrition is as important as your workout.
Eat 1.0-1.5 g/lb of protein per day
Be consistent
Come with intensity to every workout: going through the motions doesn't work0 -

Psst... you don't have to eat 5, 6, 7 meals a day. Just make sure the ones you do eat are clean, filling and keep you going. Three meals and a clean substantial snack are sufficient.0 -

Eating that many times is not needed at all. Are you looking to add mass right now or cut weight? Work out your maintenance calories and add 250cal to them and you'll gain lean mass. If you weight 200lb then make sure you are getting in 200plus grams of protein which ever you are doing.0 -
Always use good form don't be tempted to push out cheat reps you will only hurt yourself, if you don't know the correct form ask a trainer especially for dead lifts.
Progression is key you should always aim to increase weight or reps every week to start with.0 -
Haha, well that's just it. It's a life long journey. My tips would include spending hours, and I do mean hours, watching videos on proper technique. some of my favorite guys on youtube are hermannation and leehayward. You'll never regret this and will likely avoid injuries. The next thing you gotta do is make diet and exercise enough of a priority that you actually stay consistent at eating the right foods and going to the gym. Consistency is the central key thing here.0
