    cucumbers

    Is there a taste and texture difference with store bought cucumbers vs. homegrown. A few years ago I had a sliced cucumber at a party that was homegrown from their garden. It was very crisp and not full of moisture like what I have gotten in the store. The texture was almost that of a zucchini. I don't know if its a special kind that is grown or what? Anyone have a clue?

      It was probably fresher. I was a little hippy, vegetarian kid (still vegetarian) and I used to plant and harvest my own vegetables and then make yummy salads and stuff for my mom. I would pick and rinse them right before I would use them so they were straight garden-to-table fresh. If you liked it better you should start growing. Cucumbers are very low maintenance plants anyway. The easiest things I've planted were cucumber, lettuce, and pumpkins. Basically just put them in the ground and they do the rest. Very little care/attention needed.

      I like the wax, the extra lubrication is always a plus.
