Good post work out meal?

When I work out, I'm normally there for around 2 or more hours and burn close to 1000 cals. I was hoping to incorporate a post work out snack and was looking for ideas.

I do not have protein powder, and currently dont have the money to buy any (at least for a few weeks) so suggestions with out that would be helpful.

Last night was my first attempt at it and I had an English muffin with half a banana and about one and a half tbs of peanut butter. I am not sure if that was a good snack or not, I really am open to suggestions. Thanks

If you can't do protein powder, eat something, anything, high in protein, especially a lean protein- it will help your muscles recover faster. I personally don't like eating carbs after a workout and do a protein shake, then eat a chicken breast or something for lunch or dinner (depending when I work out). But a banana and pb isn't bad (potassium and protein), or an apple and pb- has both carbs and protein... Nuts are also good... Depends what you're looking for and trying things out to see what works for you after the gym...
