What to do...buffets...advice anyone?

So, tomorrow is my brother's birthday and he wants to go to an all you can eat buffet. I have faithfully stayed away from them for the past year. It's very important to my soon to be 7 y.o. bro that his big sister along with our other 2 brothers be there with him. He's already asked me am I going. Any advice on how to not overdo it? I'll greatly appreciate it.

Just allow yourself 1 plate. Don't treat it like a buffet. Just get one satisfying plate with as much veggies on it as possible and don't go back for seconds! Good luck.

I'm a big fan of semi-fasting up until a huge meal in the evening. That's what I do when my family wants to go to cheesecake factory. I can pretty much eat as much as I want there and not go over on calories assuming I work out before hand too.
  • First, be proud that you can pass on anything that would be contrary to your diet. Don't feel pressured to take foods that you would not ordinarily eat within your diet. That said, you are free to eat salad and veggies as much as you like, and even plain meats if meat is part of your diet. I find I can be quite satisfied with a salad and a plate full of veggies. Especially when I can hold my head up proud and know that I decided to take control of the evening.

I went to a buffet yesterday. I made a point of not eating anything prior to going (I went for lunch), and then I found that I didn't eat nearly as much as I would have months ago anyway, so it worked out.

Salad/fresh fruit bar is your friend :) Why not load up on veggies and whatnot then maybe have one small plate of other things? I mean obviously stay away from all the fried/cheesy goodness for the most part...just don't overdo it! :)
