I have tried and tried but now i have decided to try an e-cig.
Anyone with help would be amazing right now ?

I quit 2.5 years ago, after smoking for 25 years. I just quit. I didn't use anything. I had tried and tried lots of times with other methods but the last time felt different. Before I had always wanted to smoke more than I wanted to quit. This time it was the other way round. My desire to not smoke was stronger than my desire to smoke.
Personally I don't see NRT as that great a help, it works for some but I know 2 people who are still chewing through a pack of nicotine gum a day, thats not quitting, its transferring your habit to something else. I see e-cigs the same way, its not quitting its just smoking something else.
I used, determination, will power and Batman Arkham Asylum on hard level on the x-box (I kicked there butt to take out my frustration) Best thing I ever did was quit smoking and I was a confirmed smoker. I loved it for years. Now I can't stand them.
You can do it. I recommend a specific stop smoking board for support. This is a good one http://forum.nosmokingday.org.uk/ and where I spent 6 mths chatting to others going through the same things I was.

Hi newbie here. I changed to an ecig 6 months ago after smoking for 38 years!! always been fit though and walked loads. I had tried so many ways to quit cigs and was feeling really down thinking I was going to be a smoker for ever and die a horrible death!! I found the switch to ecigs reasonably easy, I bought an Ego C battery with clearomizers and started with 18mg nicotine juice which is a really simple setup and easily available. I didn't ditch the cigs straight away, I worked out how many cigs I really needed in a day which for me was 4, I did that by using my ecig and having a real cig when I was craving one. I then stuck to 4 cigs a day for 1 week then reduced to 3 cigs a day for a week. On my 3rd week when I reduced to 2 cigs a day I was actually starting to feel really sick when I had a real cig and the taste was horrible, much preferred my ecig. I carried on forcing myself to have 2 cigs a day for a couple of days then that was it never had another one again I found them so disgusting!!! I have put on 1/2 stone in weight over those 6 months but feel so much healthier and happier, I have now started to work on loosing that 1/2 stone with no problems. Hi, the reason I found MFP is because I quit smoking. I felt so much better after quitting, I decided I CAN get healthy!!
I am also using an e-cig. I ordered V2 e-cigs on line. They came in the mail on March 4. I charged the batteries overnight, and started using them the next morning. The only real cig I've had since is the one I tried about a week into this, and it tasted awful!!
I am using 12 mg strength and once I got the batteries and chargers, I'm spending less than I was on cigarettes.
I'm 48 years old, and I've smoked since I was 13, so that's a LOT of years smoking. I had gotten up to 2+ packs a day.

Quitting is going to be a lot like losing weight. You're going to have to want it and your going to have to stick to it. I've been on here since January 21st, I quit 4 weeks ago. No drugs, no e-cigs, no patches or gum. I was ready. I did do a lot of "research" before quitting and found a couple website extremely helpful.

The Never Smoke Again website was extremely helpful, You need to make sure you plan this. Pick a day, follow the instructions (seriously, follow them). It's like logging your food on here, if you don't log it, you're only kidding yourself, and when you don't lose weight, you're lying to yourself. Feel free to friend me. I had one really difficult day, and the was the 1st day I quit. After that it hasn't been much of a problem.
Make sure on your quit day, you destroy any cigarettes you have, throw away your ashtrays and lighters (All of them).

My husband and I turned to an E-cig almost 3 months ago. My mom who has smoked A LOT for the past 20+ years, my sister and her boyfriend had switched over a month or so before my husband and I did. My mom is now down two 0 nicotine and my sister i think went back up to 6 nicotine (she was at 0 but found herself crabby a lot so decided to go back up) my husband and I started out at 24 i think and are now at 16. We are slowly moving down :-) I think the vapors are fantastic! This in my opinion is the way to go! Good Luck!!0

I quit smoking January 1 of this year. The best advice that I can give you is to focus on not smoking ONE DAY AT A TIME. Wake up in the morning, and think "I am not going to smoke today". It gets easier, I promise. The first two weeks were tough, but I realized it was mostly the habit. Try the "Cessation" app on your smart phone. It tells you exactly how much money you are saving, how many cigs you haven't smoked, how long it has been, how much time you have saved, and the health benefits as they occur. I feel SO much better not smoking and I never ever ever thought that I would say that. I don't want to offend anyone, but I personally think that E-cigs just drag out the inevitable. Pick a day, tell your friends and family so they are ready to support you, get the app, and quit. You can do it. It is all mind over matter!0

Oh counters are a great idea to monitor what you have saved etc. I have still got mine running.

For the last 2 years 6 months 2 weeks 3 days 15 hours 43 minutes I have been smoke-free,
Thats an enormous 13,026 cigarettes not smoked,:noway:
A whopping £4,057.60 not spent (well on smoking anyways,
and an extra 1month 2weeks 1 days 5 hours 30 minutes of life gained
They can really help to keep you going, especially as you see them get up this time, £4k in 2.5 years and I wasn't a heavy smoker!!
Forgot to add, my moto when I quit was One minute, One hour, One day at a time. Thats all you can take it when you first quit.0 -
I quit something like 20 years ago. I attended a 4 session "stop smoking class". When leaving for the second meeting, I left my cigs in the house by accident, took it as a "sign" I was ready to quit and haven't smoked since (which is not to say I haven't had the odd craving from time to time).
My methodology was a bit counter to common recommendations.as I kept an unopened pack of cigarettes in my desk drawer - that way, to my mind, it was always a personal choice to not smoke, rather than a feeling of "deprivation". I also "chewed" on cinnamon sticks - simiilar feel in my hand to a cigarette, plus I love cinnamon.0 -
I smoked for 20+ years and quit a little over 4 years ago. It was the best move I have ever made for myself. I used Chantix. I know a lot of folks who have balked at the side effects and such, but for me, it was a life saver. I wanted to quit more than anything and I don't know that I could have done it without the Chantix. I took it as directed and followed the instructions. My "quit day" came and I had no cravings or desire to smoke at all. I never looked back and in all this time, I've never even considered smoking again. Good Luck!!!0

Thanks everyone, think im gonna stick to my e-cig for a couple more weeks to get out of the habbit of sparking a cig up and then quit for good.

I smoked for10 years and"quit" many times. What finally worked is actually deciding I was done. There is no I between for an addiction. Ps. My father quit 40 years ago and said he had cravings for 35 of them. It is a long road.0
