Polar FT4 Watch

Hi!! I just recently bought the Polar FT4 HRM and LOVE IT! My question is, do I have to wear the watch? I play soccer but obviously cannot wear the watch due to soccer being a contact sport. Am I able to leave the watch on the sideline and do you think it will still read my HR & how many calories I burned?

Hope someone can help with this question! :)

Thanks!!

I also have the FT4 and no you cant have the watch far from you at all and it transmit . I wanted to leave the watch about 3 feet away while I did a work out video but it would transmit. Maybe I did something wrong but I dont think so. I started my training with it logging my heart rate and then when I moved away it beeped because it couldnt get my heartrate. You could try it at maybe a practice or something and see what happens. Good luck!!

I know it's been over a month since you posted BUT I have been trying to figure out a way to wear the HRM without wearing the watch. I play soccer as well and the only thing I can come up with is to take the straps off the watch and just carry it with you in your sports bra. However, I have been unable to figure out how to remove the straps :/

scissors? as long as you don't need to wear it as a watch... I'm wondering if pinning it to you will be too much bouncing around...

Yea, it can't be far away. I sometimes workout at home and I left it on the coffee table not ten feet away and it did not transmit. Maybe if you have a pocket or something?
