I was wondering , im going to try the 1200 calorie diet , and i was just wondering if i ate healthy foods and unhealthy foods worth of 1200 calories would this diet be effective / will it work ? or will i just gain weight and lose weight . I was just thinking if someone ate 1200 calories worth of unhealthily food an someone else ate 1200 calories of healthy food would they see a difference between them on the scale ?

Welcome here and have fun!
The scale is one thing, the body is another... 1200 is little calories thuse there would be a change probably but the body would not bee too happy with the unhealthy food. I myself am eating about 1200 calories a day and I notice that I get tired when I eat badly. : )0 -
You will see pretty much the same weight loss whether it's healthy or unhealthy... But in reality, there are foods that are better for you (lean meats or stuff high in protein) as they help with muscle retention, which should be prevented as much as possible during weight loss. Also, with only 30 lbs to go, make sure youre account isn't set for more than 1 lb per week. If it's more than that, it's rather aggressive. Additionally, if you exercise, then you can eat more calories. And in many case, the women I know are successfully losing at 1700-2100. In fact, i see more women lose at those levels than I do at 1200 calories when you are talking long term.0

Hi, I am going to try and help.
You are asking a question the involves lots of time explaining so I will try to be as brief as possible.
1200 calories is 1200 calories. Theoretically you could lose weight eating 1200 calories of chocolate bars if you wanted to (don't do that please).
So, find out how much you approximately burn each day, subtract 500, do that for many many months, profit.
Also, measure your calories accurately, sometimes people call 3k calories 1200 because they think a McDonalds cheeseburger is only 100 calories (bad example, but you get my point).
Anyways, lift weights.
Good luck!0 -
As long as you meet your macronutrient goals (carbs, protein, and fats), it doesn't really matter what those foods are. Yes, there will be people who will argue that point, but I am of the opinion that people should eat whatever they want to, within reason of course.
That being said, "unhealthy food" is generally going to be far more calorie dense, so you won't be able to eat as much of it in a restricted calorie diet, which can lead to feeling unsatisfied. Eating raw, whole foods generally means you can eat more and feel more full.
Before you launch into a 1200 calorie diet though, please look up Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), and use this body fat calculator http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/ and then this calorie calculator http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/
You might have more success on a different number of calories, depending on your activity level, current height and weight, and how quickly you want to lose weight. Good luck.0 -
Hi, Please don't just try the 1200 calories amount.
Go through the MFP setup properly choosing the weight loss goal to recommended, eat the number of baseline calories MFP suggests then when you exercise, log it in MFP and extra calories will be added to your daily amount. Eat all those calories back as well.
MFP has already created a deficit for you if you set it up properly so not eating those calories back may impede your weight loss.0 -
IF you're serious, 1200 calories of healthy food like baked chicken and steamed vegetables would be about 40 ounces of meat. Considering the average steak is 8 oz... That's about 8 meals worth of meat..
1200 calories is a big mac meal with fries and a coke..
You tell me.
Choose wisely: eat once a day or 6 times a day, the calorie count is what counts.0
