Wedding Dress Worries

I made myself a deal that if I can get to 175 by dress shopping time (December) then I can get myself a beautiful real wedding dress. However, if I do not make it to 175 then I have to settle for a cheap linen dress. I am going to get married on the beach so a linen dress will look fine but what girl does not want "the dress". I figured out that if I lose 2 pounds a week by december I will weigh 167. I am assuming that I am going to have some weeks that I am going to not lose 2 lbs so that is why I am giveing myself a 10 lb buffer. Anyone else out there trying to lose weight for their wedding? I could use some friends in simialar situations to remind me what I am working towards when this gets harder!!! THANKS

I went dress shopping at 175lbs. I wont go again until I'm at 160 so I can try more styles on. I wont buy until I'm 150.
But the one thing I wont do is punnish myself for not getting to my goal weight. I'm going to buy the dress I find the most beautiful and in my price range. I dont want to look back and say I really didnt like that dress and its all beacause I couldnt lose weight.
Thats too much of a crappy memory and being extra hard on yourself.

Get the dress you want regardless of what the scale says!!! Your wedding day is once in a lifetime and the pictures and video last forever! Your wedding day is all about you and having the dress you want will only enhance the day! Say "yes" to the dress girl!! :flowerforyou:
Congrats on the upcoming nuptials!!0 -
I'm not buying a wedding dress but I am going to be in my sisters wedding in 3 months. I already have my dress and lets just say, I need to drop some more pounds for the dress to look how I want it. I don't know if I would set a goal that if you aren't at a certain weight by a certain time you can't have "the dress". Like the earlier post said. You don't want to look back on that day and remember that you couldn't get the dress you always wanted because you couldn't lose the weight. Glad to hear you are giving yourself a buffer of about 10 pounds though. Those bad weeks definitely happen. Good luck to you in your journey!0

I was NOWHERE near my goal weight when I went dress shopping or when I got married. But I still found the perfect dress. Most women at the dress shops wanted to put me in the fat girl dresses.... it was so depressing. It took a very long time and I called on the services of my big sis (she does events for a living) and we finally got it. It would have looked just as beautiful had I lost 50 more lbs but I still felt like a princess. Don't kill yourself trying to get to that "perfect" weight because it may not happen and that would be devistating!

I bought the dress at my weight at the time, have lost a few lbs, had it taken in once, hope to lose a few more and they assure me they can take it in again (although my wedding is about three weeks away!) It was The Dress when I bought it and only looks better now with some arm muscles Good luck on the wedding and weight loss journey!0

Hi! I'm nowhere near my goal weight and I'm getting married 2 weeks from tomorrow!! I have beat myself up over not getting to a lower weight, but I have managed to lose 40lbs since January. I'm going to wear the dress I fell in love with when I went dress shopping in February (20+ lbs heavier than now). I promise you will look gorgeous no matter what the scale says. I was so nervous to go dress shopping because I hated my body, but wedding dresses really flatter you. (most of them anyway) I definitely tried on some bad ones. Don't let your weight stop you though. I'm going to continue working on my weight loss after my wedding. It's not the end of the world if you're not at your goal weight for your wedding. People will be there to watch you get married who LOVE YOU already just the way you are! Keep that in mind. I'll post pics of myself in my dress for you to see in 2 weeks. Good luck girl. At least try your best, but don't kill yourself!
