Jawbone UP?

I am considering buying the Jawbone UP band (like its sitting in my amazon cart as I type!), however I only know one person that has one and she just got hers. I have tried to find reviews and most are mixed but more positive. I was wondering if anyone has the Jawbone UP band or any other item that syncs with your iphone that tracks your calories etc. and what would you recommend? thanks guys!! try to keep the budget under $150, im a poor college kid, i really want to keep track with my actual calories burned !

If you are trying to save money, this is really mostly a fancy pedometer. All the extra stuff is just the software. You old figure out yourself how many calories you are averaging by the number of steps on a cheap $10 pedometer.

I have had a nike fuel band for almost a year and love it. I tried the jawbone up and didnt like it as much as my fuel band so i took the up back to att.

My main reason to try the up was to monitor sleep.. Bad news, you have to remember to tap it on and tap it off to monitor sleep, it wasnt as comfortable as the fuel band.

Others like the up band better... But not me

The Fitbit One is about $100. I love it. They are coming out with a bracelet style FitBit soon and that will also be around $100. I can't wait to get that one. The FitBit tracks steps, sleep, calories burned, flights of stairs climbed and it syncs with MFP so you don't have to do any extra logging. :)

Don't get the UP is you want a good sleep tracker.

I don't have the UP but I use a sleep app that is reported to be the same one used on the UP. It is horrible. I have another sleep app that tracks my sleep much more accurately though not in as much detail. I figure if the app gets all the details wrong they are not worth anything anyway.

I have the UP and am pretty sure I am going to return it. It really is just a fancy pedometer. It can't tell me how many calories I've burned (not accurately at least). When I sync it, it shows calories burned but then if I tell it that I actually did a workout at a certain time, it automatically ups the calories burned. While it makes sense, that tells me that it really can't track actual calories burned (via heart rate, etc).

I don't know about the fitbit, but I don't know how it could be accurate on the calories burned either - because it doesn't monitor your heart rate.

I suppose it depends what you are really wanting to track. I am thinking of getting a pedometer ($10 - so way cheaper than the UP) to track steps and a Heart Rate monitor to calculate ACTUAL calories burned.

i just got the UP band from Jawbone and I'm wondering what are peeps favorite complementary app for myfitnesspal?

I wish Zombie Run and MFP worked together and will report on whether the UP Band is useful.

A quick review suggest FITBIT is more popular but I'd love to know any other apps people like that work with MFP.

    thanks,
    John
