hi!
i've been using mfp since jan 2013, so far have lost 21lbs, mfp gave me daily calories of 1240, so far so good, but, there's always a but eh!
last weekend i went over my cals (just one day over cals) gained 2.5lbs the next day (have a awful habit of weighing daily), so far have lost 1.5lbs of weight gained.
anyway i'm just worried that i will stall soon, i very rarely eat back my exercise cals, according to the harris benedict equation my bmr is 1368, my tdee is 1808 so less 20% i should be eating 1505 cals a day, i just about make 1240 a day. am i worrying over nothing or should i change to 1505 cals but how do i change this on mfp????
thanks for taking time to listen/read me go on ) x

Ok- first your 2.5 pound gain is not a "real" gain. You would have had to over eaten by 8,750 cals. So I am sure most of it is water weight. But I have been there! I use to weigh everyday too. It would drive me nuts! I would suggest upping your calories to 1505 like you said. It will give you more freedom during the day, so a weekend binge won't happen. I am not sure if you change it in goals or settings. But I am sure someone will tell you how!
Oh and Congrats on the weight loss so far! That really is great!0 -

I agree with jill, what you're seeing is a "real gain" of fat. I'm a daily weigher too, it's just habit, I do it every single morning, but the daily fluctuations don't bother me. I see my weight go up and down several pounds every week.
However, if you're only eating 1240 most days, and not eating back exercise cals, that's dang low, not enough fuel for sure, especially since your BMR is 1368. Those are coma calories, and you are most certainly not in a coma, so your bod deserves more, don't ya think?
Eat too little for too long and you're giving your body a reason to store fat rather than burn it. Give it the fuel it needs and it will burn the fat. Food is fuel!0 -
You are worrying over nothing. Don't worry about a plateau until it actually happens (and a plateau is 6 weeks or more of ZERO weight loss).
Weight loss is not linear. If you can't handle the daily fluctuations of the scale, stay off the scale and weigh only once per week.
There are so many things that influence our weight from day to day, hour to hour and even minute to minute. Google and read "Why the Scale Lies" for more information on this topic.
Your weight loss graph will likely look like a roller coaster after a few months. That shouldn't bother you as long as the overall trend is down. You will see many weigh ins where you stay the same or gain. That is just how the body works, no matter what you do.
So, again, you are worrying for nothing and stay off the scale if the daily fluctuations bother you.0 -
