How long after eating should I wait to run?

I think I heard somewhere that you should wait 2 hours after you eat to exercise but I don't really have the time for that. Half an hour ago I ate a salad with some Kraft ranch. How long should I wait before running?

That is an entirely personal answer and it depends on what you eat as well. Somethings I can eat within an hour and go, other things I need 3 hours. Some people can run on an empty stomach, i cannot. It's a trial and error.
Do you feel full? Salad is pretty light, I could probably my handle running after about an hour.0 -
If I were to eat a big meal and then go run, I think I'd puke.
But a salad shouldn't be too bad...... like 3dogsrunning said..it's trial & error

Two hours? 30 mins will do it. Slightly more if you really went to town. Think about the warnings you always got as a kid before you went swimming. 30 mins they told you, and they were worried you would drown and be all dead and stuff. Now we're talking about you resting for a few mins on the side of the road if you get a cramp. I'd go ahead and give it a shot0

Depending on what I eat, I wait 30 minutes to an hour.0

My husband has to wait at least 3 hours after he eats to run. He usually goes in the morning before he eats or right when he gets home from work before dinner. He can't even have a granola bar before or he starts feeling sick. I can literally eat an entire meal and be ready to go in 10 minutes. Just depends on the person.0

I never really though about this until last night when I ate a ton of rice and country style ribs. About 10 minutes in I got a pretty bad cramp but I didn't get nauseous. Now I know to wait after large meals.0

Its all up to your body. Try different things and you will figure it out. Me personally, I cant eat anything and I have to be careful on how much I drink before a jog. I'm still trying different food though0

I agree that is depends on the person, but from my experience if I eat something with a lot of carbs or fiber I need to wait a lot longer before I start running or after about 2 miles I am really going to regret it. I usually only need to wait on the weekends when I am doing longer training runs so I plan the wait time into my schedule. During the week I can usually just go right when I get home from work.0
