Hey, I'm eating my recommended 1200 calories and burning about 250 a day and still not losing weight. I'm 5'6 and weight about 138. I want to lose about 8-10 more lbs. Do I need to eat less or burn more?.... HELP PLEASE!! :)

Have you calculated what your maintenance calories are and how much of a deficit you're eating at? At one point I ate 1200 calories a day and my weight loss stalled. I actually increased calories and found the weight started to fall off. Also how accurate are you with weighing/measuring food?

you probably need to up your caloric intake to 1400 and eat back your exercise calories

*edit - or eat back your exercise calories on your current 1200. but i think that is still too low. you can try.

You need to eat more. 1200 minus 250 means you are netting 950 calories a day and that's bad. See here to work out what you should be eating. If you get stuck feel free to ask me for help.

Your BMR is calculated to be about 1399 and your TDEE is 1924. If you want to burn fat in the best way then lift heavy things (so your body knows that it needs to keep the muscle it has) and eat at a modest calorie deficiet. Aprox 1600ish calories is where you could be at.
If i were you i would eat 100 calories more everyday, in weekly increaments, untill i was at 1500-1600 daily. I would also really work out harder.
  • Thanks everyone!! Your input is really appreciated. I guess I need to eat more and workout harder. :)
