Before I joined MFP and realy started adjusting my diet and lifestyle, I drank regular pop. I cut out pop completely for awhile (which was the best option) but now I drink only diet. I know none of it is good for me and I'm sure I'm going to die of diabetes, cancer, etc. because of my soda consumption but at least I won't die of obesity related symptoms.... ;)

I was overweight and drank diet cokes all the time. Now I'm not overweight and I still drink diet cokes all the time! I'm just more aware now =) I drink a lot of water and at lunch and dinner I have a diet soda. So be it!

I think the statement was backwards. The more a person drinks diet drinks the tendency is to be overweight. AS was said, "It's all bad." I enjoy a diet Mt. Dew once a week. I like the taste. I like to drink it at my grandchildren's ball games. However, I was not obese because of soda. It was overeating. Never drank much of any kind of soda. It's all relative.

I like diet ginger ale 1000000x more than regular ginger ale.

All other diet sodas are rat poison and I'm soda shaming everyone that drinks them

I can attest to this, as I was drinking 2+ liters a day when I was at 200 lbs. Though now I'm at 150 and still drink 2+ liters a day, so im not sure what that proves :)

In my experience as a server, fat people drink diet soda or sweet tea, young people drink regular soda, and thin people drink unsweet tea, coffee, and water. Some thin people drink diet soda and regular soda, but they usually only drink one glass. The overweight people drink 4-6.

I'm quite tall as well, and I just bought a few pair of heels. Do I need to return them?

Also, I've never drank diet soda; I'd rather drink water.

I used to bartend/serve and this was a common theme among my larger guests, " Let's start with some fried mozzorella and the beer cheese soup and for me meal I'd like the double bacon cheeseburger with mayo and fries, side of ranch. Oh and a diet coke. Thanks" hmmmmmmm.....

I don't drink a lot of soda but I have been drinking Diet Soda of one type or another for so long that regular soda is cloying.

The one exception is bonafide ginger beer (not ginger ale) For that I want the real thing and it doesn't take a lot of effort to find it made with cane sugar and not HFCS.

Oh hai Ms Judgy. Please tell me more why it would be better to compound that heart attack with an additional 300-400 calories.
