Okay MFP family. I know I have not been hitting my calorie mark lately. I am very stressed and I am feeling very poor about myself. I have never been skinny and there has always been someone to point it out at some moment in my life. I am ready to feel good and not worry about what others think. I am not afraid of what I will be like when actually loose the weight. I put so much pressure on myself and in the last 40 days I have only lost 3-4 pounds. My goal is to lose 8-10 pounds a month and I have not hit that. I am really concerned I wont get past this stage in my life. I have been 209 three times in the past year and I want to get past it. I have been setting small goals and I have not been reaching them. I wanted to run a 5k in 2.5 weeks and I have stopped running. I am sick of it. I need something to give me some hope that there is a light at the end of this tunnel.
If you have a story to share...a progress picture....a kick in the *kitten*.. anything... Thank you MFP family I know you are here for me!

I'm just finishing my 6th week. I actually have a weigh-in tomorrow and praying for a lost. My first two weeks I lost 6 lbs and then the next week I gained 2 lbs, then lost it the next. So, I lost 6 lbs the first four weeks. I was a bit disappointed, but changed my goals to 6 lbs a month. I'm not even sure I will hit that this month. I'm just happy for any loss and I want to keep going. Add me as a friend and we can encourage each other!!!0

Wow... I feel like I could have written this post. I feel EXACTLY the same way. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. MFP has me at 1200 calories per day, and I was doing really well... then we went on vacation. I actually only gained back 1.4 pounds during vacation, and lost it plus another 1.5 within a few days... but now, we've been so busy, I haven't been able to exercise, and haven't been able to get to the store. So now, I am constantly over in my calories, and have very little time to exercise, and I'm in self-destruct mode... and weigh-in is tomorrow morning!!
Hope to see some inspiring words of wisdom, because I'm about to chuck it all.. so at this point, the only words I can offer you is you're not alone!! We need to get out of our funks!! Good luck to you!!0 -
It is great to know I am not alone because I feel better. It is just so sad that we have to go through so much! :-(0

When I go through this, I have to kick my own *kitten* and look at the other positives besides the weight loss. It gets frustrating but I know I'll give up if I don't look at it that way.
Think about how much better you feel about yourself after you do a bit of exercising, think of the changes your body has undergone with the first 16lbs (according to your ticker). I've lost the same amount and I feel so much better. You have to remember that you're human and mistakes will be made, you'll want to give up but you just have to remind yourself and work through it. With every failure, use it as determination. I failed this time but what have I learned. What do I need to change.
My body seems to be losing at the same amount yours is, though you are 5lbs lighter. What I recently did was write out why I want to lose. I printed several copies and stuck them in places I could see them. Like my vanity mirror, dry erase board in the kitchen, and even on the fridge. I put a post it on the fridge that asked, "are you really hungry?"
Use that list as a motivator. I tried the 30 day shred before I officially start Monday and couldn't' get halfway into it. It nearly killed me. I wanted to give up but I thought, "why should I? Would giving up make me happy?" Use that determination to carry you through.
We are on each others friend's list. Send me a message when you get down if you'd like. I understand all too well the comments made and the hurt feelings and the feelings of failure.0 -
It has been a struggle but my diet buddy and I always admit to falling off the wagon, pigging out and when we do we make our selves GET RIGHT BACK ON THE WAGON!
Even if you don't do so well for a few days, tomorrow is a new one.
We consider ourselves addicted to food and we look at eating like AA, "One day at a time"
Don't worry, I'm in the same position0 -
Losing the weight you have is great. You're more likely to keep it off the slower you lose it. Losing 2lbs a week takes a lot of work. I'd 1st start by reducing your sodium intake to no more than 1800mg a day. A high sodium diet could be one of the reasons you're not seeing the weight come off. The 2nd thing I'd do is eat more fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. Make sure to drink lots of water to help your body flush out all that sodium. Try different healthy options and see what you like and can stick with. The weight will come off it just takes time for the body adjusts. It took me 3 months before I started seeing good results. Just stick with it.0

Like everyone, I started out wanting a quick fix and to lose weight quickly. Read the posts of successful people - they all have the same message. Slow and steady wins the race. I finally reset my goals for 1 pound a week and began to look at it as a lifestyle change. I eat everything but monitor portion sizes - 1 slice of pizza with large salad, mini hamburg with veges and 1 serving of chips, etc. 80% of weight loss is what you are eating. I slowly improved my eating habbits. I aim for 8 servings of fruits and veges a day. I try to eat cleaner but it's hard. Reading labels at the grocery store is time consuming but needed - tortilla wraps vary from 100 to 210 cal. Bread can be 70 to 150 a slice. I weigh everything I eat to make portion control more accurate.
I try to eat good for breakfast and lunch so I can splurge on dinner.
Exercise is also important. Not every exercise has to be a sweatfest. A walk outside, Leslie Sansone inside walking videos and bike rides are some of my fav ex. I have taken up running since joining MFP. I may not be the fastest person out there but I love it!!! I run (okay slow jog) at 14 min/mile pace. 6 months ago as I was working on C25K - I would have said you're crazy if you think I'll run 7 miles without stopping. But I did it last weekend. I deceided to go for my dream and am training to run the Detroit 1/2 Marathon.
If I can do this, anyone can. Start with small changes that you can live with forever. Lower your weight loss goal to a pound a week. Get up off the couch and take a walk. In time the changes become habits and you'll be healthier!!! Good luck to you all.0 -

I could have written this! It's exactly what I was going to suggest - lower your goal to 1lb a week for starters - I was struggling to lose 2lbs and it was getting me down, but I'm easily doing 1lb which is FAR better for my motivation. Eat what you want, but tweak it (if you order Dominos, order low fat cheese, if you eat pasta, weight the portion size, etc.) And C25K is great - small steps toward a big goal and it seems to make time on the treadmill go a bit faster (except that first 5 minute run - that feels like it goes on for hours! LOL.)
And add me as a friend if you like!0
