  • Hey there! I'm new here as well. I could definitely benefit from some encouragement! Add me. :)
  • I am also new, my first week, here... I started my walking "at the mall" in the wee hours (last week), They open their doors at 6 am, but the stores open at 9 am.. Its really nice, because there isn't a lot of people there to dodge or walk around... I lost one lb, lol, this week.. :glasses:

I have been trying to follow up on myfitnesspal w/ my calories and there were 2 days, this past week, I went over +1000 calories.. :noway:

We all need encouragement... You all can add me, if you like

Hi! Welcome! I'm always good for some motivation :) and in terms if the "science" behind MFP, it's based on the fact that a pound of fat is equivalent to 3500 calories of energy, therefore, it tracks the deficit you run on your day, applies that to the next, whatever, 5 weeks, and tells you how many pounds you'd be down at the end of that time. So, fairly accurate I think, if you have average metabolic activity. Might be thrown off if you've had a previous period of weight loss with a major calorie deficit over a long term (like 6 months) with no exercise (since that will kill your basal metabolic rate), or if hypothyroidism or some other history that reduces (or increases) bmr.

Best of luck on your future successes!

Also, feel free (everyone) to add me!
