I Seriously need help PLEASE!

Hello, everyone

I just joined MFP and I was 160 about 6 weeks ago. I am 22 years old and I am 5'0 FT tall. I am currently as of 5 minutes ago 145.5 pounds. I know you aren't suppose to weigh yourself at night BUT ..... I am at a plateau. I have been 144 or 145 pounds for 3 WEEKS! I joined this site on Monday because I need help.

When I wasn't running I lost 15 pounds. I take Adderall XR because I am an adult with ADHD, and so I don't eat that much! Adderall KILLS the food drive. So, Just the Adderall XR and not running. I was losing 5 pounds a week. Now I run about 60 to 90 minutes 6 days a week. I run on the track 2 miles and the rest on my treadmill. I have not shed a pound since then. I TRIED to INCREASE my calorie intake but...that didn't make a difference.

I have a lot of belly fat because I got surgery in April 2012. I have Crohn's Disease. I was 100 pounds before I got sick then I gained 55 pounds due the steroids and other medications they had me on. I have been struggling to lose the weight since then. I cannot fit any of my clothing. I am depressed because I feel extremely ugly now. I can't really eat healthy because healthy things like salad, broccoli, spinach, cabbage ETC flares my Crohn's. So I don't really know what I am suppose to eat! I drink at least 10 cups of water a day, maybe more. COLD WATER.

I remember when I was 17 I ate 800 calories a day, drank 6 cups of coffee a day and ran only an 30 minutes twice daily and I was SHEDDING it off, Now NOTHING.

CURRENTLY, I have ran so much that my legs, ankles and feet hurt to the point I have to run to loosen them up. I must be 95 pounds BMI 19.6 which is normal weight by JULY 1st...I was on the right path but now I am freaking out. I am thinking about doing the lemonade cleanse. I have been popping Laxatives, stool softeners Miralax fiber pills, detox hot tea and laxaitive tea. My stomach is distended because I am not passing bowel like I should be....HELP ME!!! I don't know what to do anymore! I AM DESPERATE!

My guess is you're exercising too much and not eating enough. If you're in pain take a break from running. And please stop taking the laxatives if you aren't actually constipated.

Losing 40 pounds in two months isn't realistic either...not in a remotely healthy way. Why the rush?

I would advise sitting down with a nutritionist or a doctor. They should know how to help you work with your medications to help you eat healthy and the correct amount.

Yes, sweetie, you do need help. But not the type you are going to find online. Please print off this post and show it to your primary physician ASAP. Hopefully he will direct you to specialists who can provide you with the appropriate assistance.
  • i know right now you're feeling depressed, angry, at your wits end...but what u have to keep in mind is that, as far as exercising, you're doing the right thing...it's just that sometimes our bodies just stabilize..it's not due to anything you're doing or not doing...it's just how the body works...but, even though you're not seeing any difference on the scale, you HAVE to be noticing a difference in the way your body feels and the way your clothes are fitting you..i can totally relate to your feelings..i hit a plateau a couple weeks back, and i was just as angry and frustrated because i felt like with all the work i was doing, i should be seeing something on the scale..but i had to put it in perspective..what's the alternative? stopping? eating like i was before and quit working out? what is that going to accomplish??? more weight gain! so i had to remind myself of the weight that i'd lost so far, and just keep working out, and trying to eat right..eventually you're body will begin to show the weight loss on the scale...but u also may need to switch up your exercise routine some...at first, all i was doing was cardio...when i hit that plateau, i started adding weights and different weight machines....also, how many calories are you eating a day? if you are eating too few calories, it won't matter what you do, your body will hold on to whatever you eat and in the end you'll be working that much harder to get the weight off....but don't start abusing laxatives and things like that..it's extremely unhealthy...stick in there...keep reminding yourself of the progress you've made so far!

I'm so sorry. But with a serious condition like Crohn's you really need to be under a doctor or nutritionist's supervision. It sounds like there is something else healthwise going on and embarking on an extreme crash diet and exercise program is NOT healthy and could land you back in the hospital.

Please, please, please....go see your doctor and explain your situation.

    Best of luck to you!

I agree with seeing a nutritionist or doctor, and stopping the laxatives. You need to know what you can and can't eat.

I want to comment on your weight goal though. 95lbs for a 5'0" person is almost underweight; I'm 5'0" myself. Take your weight loss slow, eat enough food, and exercise with with some regard for your body. Losing weight is about lifestyle change and it can be slow at times. The time frame and goal you have outlined is unrealistic.

Why on earth must you be 95 lbs by July 1st?!

You sound like you have messed up your metabolism quite fiercely. The combination of previously eating 800 calories while running twice daily has probably made the surgery/med-induced weight gain worse.

Your body needs to heal. You cannot drop that weight by eating less and exercising more. You have to look at food as the thing that will allow your body to repair and to heal from everything that is wrong.

If you were 100 lbs and suddenly gained 55 lbs, it is safe to say you have maybe 75-80 lbs of lean mass on your body... You should not be aiming to lose 5 lbs/week. You have lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks... that's HUGE! Weight loss isn't linear, so you shouldn't expect to see a) the same loss from week to week, or b) a loss every single week without sometimes staying the same or even seeing an upswing by a few ounces. It happens.

Assuming you do only have about 85 lbs of lean mass (since you were only 100 lbs total before your surgery), your BMR should be somewhere around 1150 calories daily. Running 5-6 hours/week should have you burning around 2000 calories daily on average. So for you to lose weight in a healthy way, you should aim for about 1600 calories daily to lose a little over 3 lbs/month.

I don't recommend you try doing it faster. You already have very low LBM compared with your overall body weight. Dieting quickly will burn more lean mass, which in turn makes you burn less overall calories every day and makes it even harder to eat or burn at all. Do it slowly. Eat 1600 calories every day, and try and get about 90-100g protein. Keep running if you like it, but reduce the running to 3 days a week and lift weights on the other 3 days and take a rest day.

But whatever you do, stop with the laxatives... and I've done the Master Cleanse... that salt water flush is a bisch and will probably wreak havoc with your chrone's. Please don't do anything like that.

I think you should contact the Group "Eat More To Weigh Less"...in the Group section, ask some of them, they are pretty good at your type of situation.

Also, you may be a prime candidate to use a juicer...juicing your fruit and veggies is a prime way to get you nutrients, with very little digestion needed. I'm surprised your doctor or Nutritionist did not suggest this to you. I suggest a Breville Juice Fountain (on Amazon for $99.00 or $149, w/free s&h). Check out Youtube to see how they work and the benefits of Juicing.

you are stressing yourself too much. you need to calm down, and make a good sensible plan with your dr, because you have a medical condition that is directly affected by your diet and nutrition. please be smart and healthy about this... do it right, see your dr who manages your condition.

Sorry to say your daily menus are really unhealthy. A few skipped meals, plenty of junk food, fast food, prepared/packaged food and too much sugar and sodium. Definitely get some meal planning advice from a professional and follow it.

I started in the middle of march I thought it was realistic because I have don't it before time and time again for different reasons. I am moving to Ocean City and I am engaged, We haven't set a date yet but...I have a weird feeling its going to be like August or September I just want to look like the old me this summer so I can wear my clothes again. Nothing fits me.

Someone told me i had to just run through the pain and it will stop hurting but its been three days and it hasn't yet.

I know but I know so many girls that do it and it works for them.

I know, I just want to feel pretty again. I am working really hard. I Lost ONE POUND this morning now I am 144.5. I Know If you look at my diary i at like 630 calories worth of chocolate last night while crying myself to sleep because I don't have any friends like that to support me. That makes it harder for me. I am eating like 1500 a day but I want to eat things like veggies and chicken I can't really eat veggies because if I so happen to eat the wrong kind My intestines get inflamed which its bad. I take Humira for my Crohn's but I still cant eat like salad! :( I love salad. I am don't eat bread. Maybe once a week MAYBE. I eat alot of protein steak and chicken. I don't have much of an appetite anyway because of my medication so I force myself to eat and my tummy doesn't hold much of anything.

What about stool softeners or laxative teas?

Crohn's is trail and error. Some days i can eat Broccoli and Chipotle and Kale and other days If I eat it, I might as was take a vacation timeshare on the toilet seat. There is is stuff i just cant eat at all.

According to the BMI 5FT 144 pounds
"Your BMI is: 28.1 (How is this calculated?)
You are in the OVERWEIGHT weight range."

"According to the BMI 5FT 95 pounds
Your BMI is: 18.6 (How is this calculated?)
You are in the NORMAL weight range."

    This.

You have Crohn's disease and you are messing with laxatives and stuff?

Your health is far more important than a number on a scale. You are doing possibly serious damage to your body in an attempt to lose weight.
Excess cardio is not the answer. Too much exercise and not enough food will also have a negative impact on your body.

ETA - are you using laxtative to lose weight? Or to treat your symptoms? I may have misunderstood.

Either way, you need to talk to your doctor about this.

An underweight BMI is 18.5 and below. 18.6 is very, very close. This is the absolute bottom end of the normal weight range.

I've been losing the same 7 pounds since January, sometimes plateaus last a while, ummm, don't pop laxatives, eat good calorie foods and you'll be fine. You need to see a nutritionist because of your problems like the Crohns disease and stuff, but just eat the right foods, eat your exercise calories and it will come off if that's a good weight for you.

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONESTY!

Moving to the beach and going to get married soon. I am opening up my own wedding dress company so looking good in MY WEDDING DRESS is a MUST! 95 is a BMI of 18.6, which is still healthy. I am small person. I can barely reach anything that sits on the second shelf of any cabinet. lol 144.5 is bad.

I had my surgery in 2012. I have had two Colonoscopies since then and the resection part has healed properly. Now I am just fat! lol My BMI is 28.1 which is just overweight. I was considered obese in March. They give you enemas (MOVIPREP) for the Colonoscopy so they can see all up in and around your colon and ileum. That makes me drop 5 pounds. I got a Colonscopy on the 25th and that morning before I got it, I was 139 pounds! So I can do the master cleanse because My intestines are use to the enemas. Lemons and pineapples actually help with inflammation. I can do the lemonade diet and eat pineapple once I am done the cleanse JUST INCASE I get any inflammation.

I have a diary, so you all can see how I eat. Its not the healthiest because I can't eat the healthy stuff. It is saying my BMR is 1460 calories which is dead. I don't feel comfortable eating that many calories. That is a lot of calories! Adderall makes you want water and water only. I hate eating as I

I am addicted to running. I love to run. I ran 6 miles yesterday. When I don't run I feel guilty

Also, keep in mind that the scale isn't always what determines weight loss. I would try measuring yourself instead.
Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're working out then you might just be building muscle with it. Scales don't always tell the truth!

I usually don't eat that stuff but...This crohns makes it hard to eat healthy because healthy messes my stomach up. I have asked my Dr. about it tho
