How many lbs does it take to lose a pant size?

So I started my journey in a size 15 junior pants. I am now in a loose 13 junior. I have lost 10lbs so far. I was wondering how many lbs does it take to lose a pant size?

I think it's different for everyone, but for me, it usually takes about 10lbs to lose a pant size0

I have no idea to be honest. I started out in a size 12 jeans, I have lost 12 pounds so far and I am still wearing a 12. They are deffinitely loose on me, and I hate them. But I plan to get down to a size 8 so I will not be buying pants yet. I should try on a pair of 10's to see how they fit.0

It has to be different for everyone. I have lost 12 lbs and have noticed no difference in my pants size, but my thighs have shown a huge drop along with my upper waist. It seems that my waist is starting up high and slowly working it's way down.

This is a hard question to answer. Weight doesn't correlate to inches, nor inches to weight. You can lose pounds and inches at the same time, but you can lose inches without losing pounds, or lose pounds without losing inches.
From my own personal experience I have lost 20lbs and went down a pants size, and then I have lost zero pounds and gone down as well.0 -
All the appropriate cautions about this not being simple or straightforward are correct. However, as a rough rule of thumb, for a person of average height who isn't in the larger plus size clothing, it's about 14lb per dress size. (More like 20lb for people in a UK 26+)0

I don't know, I am short and have lost 22 pounds and I am still wearing the same pants, about a 14, although they're looser now. I had one pair of 'fat' pants in a 16 that are definitely too big. But I bought a pair of 12's the other day at the thrift store and I can't even button them. Which makes no sense what with the baggy 14's but yeah. 22 pounds and no dress sizes at all here.0

It totally depends. For me, it's about 20:
175lbs = Size 18
155lbs = Size 16
135lbs = Size 14

People lose in different areas of the body based on how their genetics have their body store fat. For some it's in the upper body, some in the lower. It would totally depend on the person.0

Yes it is very different for everyone, i weight 160lbs and now fit into a 12, but I wore my 16-18's for months & months til I decided to buy new clothes. Clothes sizes is definately the slowest moving thing when it comes to weight loss :-(0 -
I'm sure it would vary greatly based on height and body frame as well as how much muscle vs fat each person has. For me, it took about 15 for the first size drop, then about 10 for the next.0

Well I've lost 15 lbs and I'm still wearing size 20's. Now I have some that were too tight to wear and now they fit loosely, and the ones that were loose are too big.0

I've lost 30lbs roughly and dropped 3 sizes.0 -
At 220 I was size 36 waist... at 200 I was 34 waist... at 180 I was 32 waist... so it would seem to me to be around 10 pounds per inch waist. hope this helps...0

I have lost 4 pant sizes with 45lbs gone, but only 2 top sizes?

yeah its completely different for everyone its been 32 lbs for me and i just now fit in a smaller pants size but my shirts and arms on t-shirts fit a lot better since 10 lbs already0

For perspective, here's my experience:
My starting weight was 281 lbs. I've lost 42 lbs as of today.
I started out in a very tight sz 24 (US) pants. Now, my pants are loose enough that they slide down my butt, so I wear a belt. Some of my "work" pants, I've actually taken in the side seams by four inches.
As far as tops, I wore a 26/24, or a 3X, all were tight, but I am fairly large chested. My bras were a 44DD. Now, some tops are noticeably too big. I have one nice top that was falling off of my shoulders because the neckline was cut very wide. It's almost indecent. My bra cups are too big, but the band seems ok. I started wearing my old 42D's. And now I can wear all of my 2X tops comfortably and a man's XL t-shirt comfortably.
My wedding ring is too loose, and I recently had to take a link out of my watch band because my watch was so loose, it looked like a bangle bracelet.
I haven't bought any new clothes yet because I'm a long way from GW. But, I was getting discouraged because my clothing sizes haven't dropped as dramatically as you'd expect with losing 42 pounds.

Erybody is different. I was rocking 46 or 44 size (holy smokes...I feel so embarrassed) men's pants when I was around 250lbs...Now at 195ish, I can use 32's but I feel weird in them...like they are too tight. So I wear 34s to feel like I have a little room, but most people say they look too big on me.0

it depends. in the begenning it would take me 10-15lbs sometimes to drop a size. now it seems like with even just 3-5 im dropping a size. everyones different,even from whats normal for you at any given time. so just be patient and after you stop worrying and noticing it seems to happen quicker.0

There's no simple answer to this one, I guess height is a big factor, as is body composition, for example people who are lifting can not lose much on the scale but lose inches and therefore pants sizes. I have only lost 3lb last few months but have lost a dress size as Im nearly at goal and lifting weights so hopefully maintaining muscle.
For me, iv lost 64lb, 5ft5, gone from size 20 to size 10 pants, I think that's a 6 in US sizes but not sure!
So that's 5 sizes, so about 12lb per size.0 -
There's no simple answer here - as this depends on how an individual carries their weight - which varies a lot from person to person. Pant size to pant size is the waist measurement and thigh measurements. But different people will reach those ratios at very different weights. And even at optimal weight, some people will carry their weight in different places.
Like another poster, I've lost two pant sizes at this point with my 20 lb loss, and shirts are loser in the arms/waist but going down an entire size in shirts at this point is still difficult as I have a chest that needs accommodating. So - its not really clear cut.0 -
People lose weight in different spots, not just the waist. For myself, my belly is the LAST place weight comes off.0

It depends, and really, you don't have to buy pants every time you drop a size. When my size 18 pants started getting loose I went and tried one some new ones, and was shocked to see I could actually close the 14s. I didn't even bother getting 16s. I fit great in 14s now but my 18s still fit, even if they're pretty loose. I'd probably fit in 12s now, I just won't bother buying any probably, and will go straight to 10s (or 8s! hah).0
