How to portion a recipe?

I'm trying to be as accurate as is reasonable with my meals. How do you determine portion sizes in something measurable, such as cups or ounces, when the ingredients are in different units? Say it's 1 lb of chicken, 2 cups of noodles, 2 tbsp of whatever. I've been picking an arbitrary number such as 8 servings, diving it in half into another dish, then put half back which is a 4th, then putting half of that back which is an 8th. Needless to say, that's not very convenient. Any suggestions are appreciated.

An easy way is determine the calorie count of the total recipe; then divide the portion amount to find calories per serving. As an example recipe is 5600 calories----makes 8-1 cup servings---so each serving is 700 calories.

I measure (weigh) all the ingredients in grams and use that to calculate the total of 100 g portions a recipe makes.0

I enter everything into the recipe calculator, weigh the final product (its good to weigh your pot/pan beforehand, otherwise I just put it on the scales in a big bowl when its done) - divide total weight by 100 and enter that as your number of servings (I usually round it to whole or half numbers). That way 1 serving always equals 100g and you can just weigh your own portion - much more convenient than trying to estimate how much I am eating as a percentage, especially as my husband usually has bigger portions so I am not just dividing in two/four etc.
You need to weigh the total after you have finished cooking as obviously liquids are going to evaporate during cooking and the final weight is going to be different to the combined weight of all your raw ingredients.0 -
I have a scale so I measure all my ingredients. then I cook them. depending on what it is, I might remeasure it. but normally the calories are close enough to get a rough estimate. if you put everything in the recipe maker, you can put servings in and get a count.0

I do something similar.. When I put a casserole into a dish, I weigh the contents, and use 100 grams as a portion..0
