Excuses, Excuses

I am tired of the excuses! I'm realizing that I really let myself go, and have had a very difficult time restraining myself. I "treat" myself to not so good foods waaay too often, a few times a wk, and I developed a horrible habit of eating before bed.
I was sick for months, medication caused weight gain, quit smoking, cant work out as hard as I want to ( Dr orders), and made a lot of real big changes in my life including a new job, moved to VA, moved in with my BF. While these are legidimate reasons for my weight gain, I have to stop with the excuses and be stronger. As I get older, it gets harder ( yet another excuse lol). But I have seen people on here older than me that have done amazing things! I need your support! Feel free to add me. thanks for reading

The best way to make progress is to admit the very things you are saying. That you do all of these things to yourself. I "treat" myself way too often to. And my ability to exercise has been limited by my back and hips. So, I feel your pain. :frown: You can do it. You'll see. One step, one day at a time. It may sound corny, but it's true.

I agree, a big part of resolving the issue is to actually acknowledge it and look at it. Don't beat yourself up for it as it's not going to serve a purpose. Instead, just try to take steps to go back on track. It's easy to "relax" what you do a bit and the first thing you know is that you've relaxed it too much :) Just try to go back to it one step at a time...

As for loosing the weight with age, I'm 46 and I would say that the issue is more that people tend to not be active as they get older (and I was one of them) more than because the weight is hard to go off. I haven't seen any significant change this time compared to the other times for me. Having said that I had my mind set in making it something I can sustain for the rest of my life as oppose to a quick fix and going back to be active was a constant struggle for a few months before I reached a point that it became my priority for my spare time (which I don't have a whole lot).

    You can do it!!!!
