Hi all!

Three years ago I was finishing a round of P90X after letting myself go too far. I was finishing my pyhysics degree and master studies and I didn't pay any atention to my health. Looking at pictures of one year before I saw that I was much more leaner than I was now. I have been in the gym for quite long time, coming and going but always healthy but the last years of degree and master I gained like 6 or 7 Kg. That is why I started P90X. When I finished it I was in the best shape that I remember and I changed my lifestyle, everything was going perfectly... until I started my PhD.

I moved to another country, I didn't know anyone but my advisor and his wife. I spent the first months trying to get used to the new language, culture and everything and I forgot about the gym. I didn't even have time to look for one. When I realiced I was working to hard in my PhD and had not enough time to do much more else. Being a PhD student in hight energy particle physics within a CERN group is something that really takes a lot of time. You need to learn to manage it, and I didn't even realiced that. I just was working hard and thinking that that was it.

A month ago I was at home visiting my family and I fall sleep. They woke me up telling me that I was snoring. I have ever snored in my entire life. I got concerned and I looked for it. I gained around 15 Kg since I started my PhD. This overweight can cause snoring and not only that. When I asked about it, several people told me that the rithm I have in my live and the weight gain can also cause bad sleep, be tired during all day, headaches and some other disorders. Guess what, I had them all.

Since several months ago I cannot sleep very well, I wake up in the mornings with headaches and I am very tired in the afternoon. I don't feel that I want to do much, just work and finish the things I have to do. All of this opened my eyes.

I love what Id o, I love be involved in such a great community as is CERN. I love to be part of very different projects and do what I want to do. The thing is that I also love myself. I am not gonna let my work get in the path of my health. I cannot be like that for much more time. I had to stop it.

Since I am not sure I can go to the gym couple of hours a day since there will be days that I won't have the time, I decided to do what I did the first time and for what I don't need to leave the house and I don't need to spend much more that one and a halfo hour a day (in the worst scenario). I started again the P90X.

Three weeks doing it, starting to eat clean egain. Tons of vegios, no sugars, no junk food. Fresh vegies and meat and in general, back to the right path. I have lost 3.5Kg aprox. in three weaks and almost 5% of body fat. Now I am starting running every morning again, I loved that and I feel that I need to do it also. I feel good, I sleep well, I can stay focused longer periods of time and I love it. I wnat to track it and maybe share it here. I am not telling any family member or friend about this new trip since I want to see their reactions when they see me again.

I just wanted to tell my story and "Introduce myself" ant the topic of this forum sais.

Thanks for reading!

Hey I'm new to MFP also and changing my life for the better. Recently had a shoulder injury that sidelined me for over 6 months, so getting into the weight training thing again. Best of luck to you.
