Workout help!!

I have constantly struggled with sticking with a workout and it shows. I'm trying to get more serious about it and was wondering if there are any specific exercises or cardio routines that would show a little bit quicker results so I can stay on track? I know you cannot spot reduce fat but I have a ton of flabby fat on my belly, hips and thighs. Are there specific exercises that anyone have found particularly helpful in seeing or feeling a noticeable difference?
Let me say that I know diet is a huge part of the equation but I just need to know about things from an exercise point of view...
Thanks

I know exactly what your up against. I have the same problem. I am going to add more variation of work outs and hope that helps. I personally get discouraged. But today I pulled out all my workout videos and I am going to do those 3 days a week & jog/walk in the afternoon and on alternate days I will do weights and more cardio. I hope someone more educated than myself replies to your post. I would like to know too. Have a good day.0

I have made a commitment of going to the gym 4x a week. The only way I make it work is that I have a routine for each day that I go. Mondays I go a push day, Tuesdays I focus on my legs, Thursdays I do pull, and Saturday afternoons I do my cardio and core exercises. During the weekdays I try and fit in at least 15 minutes of cardio along with the weights. If I have to miss any of those days, I make it up on a Friday or Sunday. & of course follow MFP on a daily basis to stay on track. It's important to have a routine and stick to it - it's the only way I hold myself accountable to my goals and I have definitely seen results because of it.0

Building muscle takes time. There is not a "fast" routine that is going to work, or else everyone would be doing it. Some things work a little better tan others, but they all take time to really build muscle. As you have said, it is a combination of diet and exercise, and you have to stick to both for a period of time to see results.
As far as staying motivated, what works for me is to challenge myself. I guess I am pretty competitive in nature anyways, but I use Jefit to log my workouts and I try to always do more - one more rep, a little more weight, etc. Jefit calculates your 1 rep max when you log it and if your 1rm increases, it congratulates you, so that works for me.0 -
Find a workout you like. If you don't like it you won't do it. Exercise with friends to add accountability. Don't expect results overnight, but maybe some sore muscles! I love to feel a little bit sore, even though it's rare that I do these days.
Once you start to feel more fit you will look forward to trying new workouts & challenging yourself even more.
Good luck!0 -
Sounds like I need to suck it up and find a workout I like and simply stick to it.
Making a "schedule" for myself is something I've never tried to do and I think I might start. It sound like it then becomes something I need to do because it's scheduled. I'm big on scheduling things. :-)
Jefit sounds like a great idea
Thanks everyone for your replies. I find them useful and motivating!0
