Started Weight Watchers Sunday (way too annoying to count all those points) and immediately switched to this today once i found it. Although I'm under most of my categories I hope this is alright.. I'm not under by far and I have very healthy food. It said I need more fat, calories and cholesterol, all the stuff they tell you to stay away from... Go figure

Any suggestions?

Welcome! I did WW online for a while and definitely prefer this site, though I've only been here about a week. You want to try to get close to your minimum calorie requirement, so I'd worry about that number more than the others, especially for starting out, but you said it's not under by far so I'm sure you're on the right track! Just give it a try -- the you can adjust based on how it's working for you.

    Best of luck to you!!

Welcome, this site has helped me lose 35 pounds in less than 6 months. I stay just under my calorie goal with healthy foods and that's all I watch because if it's healthy then the other stuff will be in check. Good luck and stick with it!

Hey there, its a great site, I like it much better than WW. I have lost 20 lbs on MFP. I took a look at your food diary, hope you don't mind. Couple of things. Your calories are too low (especially for a young guy) so be careful, you need to get closer to your base calorie goal, (exercise calories are always up for debate, but I suggest eating most of them or a piece of them) Looks like you are eating very healthy, good for you! Sodium is a little high, but not a problem for someone your age, protein is low. This is always up for big debate on this site too, but what I have been told by my dietician and trainer is 1 gram of protein for every pound that you weigh for weight loss mode (and trying to build muscle as well) At the very least try adding more protein in lean forms, i.e. chicken (and tuna and egg whites, like you eat)
you can also add greek yogurt and nuts! Hope you don't mind all the advice, you asked!  Good luck to you!

Thanks for the support... Ireed I'm always up for suggestions and my food diary is public for a reason, I'm lost! Lol, I'm trying to go for that calorie goal but I physically cant eat all that food in a day! (healthy food is alot better for you but very filling I've noticed) I ate the chips and salsa just to try to add a few calories to my intake mostly because I knew I needed to get closer to my goal. Another thing I've noticed from past dieting is to keep eating... I know that sounds weird but I've increased to eating 6-8 times a day and it seems to work pretty well. Rather than eating a whole sandwich for lunch I eat 1/2 a sandwich at 11 in the morning, another 1/2 at 12:30 and another half at 2 or so. I never seem to be hungry and I eat much less portions than eating once at noon and being full for a couple hours before I look for something to snack on. Seems pretty good of an idea.

looks like your diary looks better today! It is a little different reprogramming your body! Don't try to make all the changes all at once! Inch them up, I would say one way to boost protein and calories a little bit more is instead of 3 oz of tuna, why not make it 5 oz? If you are eating it over two time slots anyway, it might not seem that different. I don't know if you like Milk at all, or if you are opposed to drinking it, but that is a great way to add calories and protein to your diet. If you try to eat every 3 hours it might be easier to get your calories in, just plan healthy snacks, raw almonds, apples/w peanut butter, greek yogurt, veggies and hummus. Also if you amp up exercising it will help be hungry! I also get a protein shake in after exercise in the morning. It helps start out the day with protein (as I am a morning exerciser) Again it looks like you added a good amount from yesterday! It feels weird and counter intuitive to add calories, but if you are too far under you will go into a "starvation mode" Just be happy, my son needs to eat 3800 calories a day, that is a real chore for him! If you want to look at my food diary it is public too! Good luck, friend me if you would like!
