Food diary - what am I doing wrong?

I am trying my best to lose belly fat... My general day to day food is

Breakfast:
2x weatabix
Skimmed fat free milk
Banana

Lunch:
Turkey breast chunks
Lettuce
Grated carrot
Cucumber
Large orange
Kiwi
Plum

Dinner:
Chicken
Frozen veg
Whole meal pasta

If I snack, I usually only have fruit.

I exercise most days... With a mixture or the gym, spinning, body pump, body combat etc.

Is there anything I should change? The weight just doesn't seem to budge!

How many calories are you eating though? It could be that you're actually not eating enough and that you have too large a deficit from you maintenance level of calories to lose. You have to eat enough so that your body doesn't think you're in some kind of famine and start storing everything you eat...but at enough of a deficit to obviously be below your maintenance TDEE. Ideally, your calorie intake should net between your BMR and TDEE to effectively lose weight (fat).

If you have a lot of weight to lose (i.e. 50+ Lbs) your body can manage with bigger deficits. If you don't have a lot to lose and you're pretty much doing cosmetic weight loss, you have to go pretty slow with a small deficit to avoid stalling your metabolism

Looks delicious! Try to vary your foods, though.

You cannot spot reduce. Your genetics will dictate from where the weight comes off. :ohwell:

I have done my research on this, as I have been stuck at the same weight forever! This is called a plateau in your weight. As you are losing weight and losing body fat and muscle, we do not burn as many calories. To lose more weight, you will need to increase your activity (maybe by 30 minutes) or eat less calories than what you have been (don't go under 1200). Hope this helps in some way!
  • Thanks for the help! And I actually don't have much weight to lose, I weight 111lb, so I'm really just trying to burn off the belly fat and get rid of the bum cellulite! (Although I think I often drink coke zero... Which could be the cause of that!) I eat around 1200 calories a day on weekdays, give or take around 100 each way. On weekends I eat a little more, as I like to eat something nice on a Saturday after all the hard work!

Hmm the machine in the gym says my body fat is 17.8%... Maybe the machine is not accurate!

is it one of those handhelds? i have one of those, you have to make sure you set it to exact height and weight. also i have a scale that measures from the feet. its always a few percent higher, so i average the two for my number. but i also know they are inherently inaccurate an the only real use is a trend over time, as the formulas are based off average human beings and no one is AVERAGE so they will never be accurate.

if you really are that low, you might have to try some different techniques...great resources ive found
