I can't be the only one...
I have tried planned meals and snacks, shakes, meal bars, etc, etc. I always had a tough time sticking with it. This time I have had a lot more success just winging it. I obviously am eating at a calories deficit; I have lost about 8 lbs a month so far this year. But there is no plan. Some days I do have a shake for lunch. Some days I have a salad. Some days I have a hamburger! I don't log anymore. I just don't eat too much and when I splurge I make up for it by eating even less at the next meal or two. I weigh almost every day, so I know if I need to put a little more effort into making sure I eat light. Eating clean? Sure, when that's an easy option. But not always.
Veggies and fish are a big part of my diet; I do make choices that make winging it possible. I don't drink sugary stuff.
As far as exercise goes, I run 5k 2 or 3 times a week, taking about a half hour to complete the 5k. I lift dumbells for a few minutes a day.
My name here - 55in13 - has a double meaning. I want to lose 55 lbs in 2013 and I will turn 55 in 2013. So far I am on course.
Others winging it with success? The thing I really like about this is that I think this is very sustainable as a lifestyle.

i don't calorie count either...i know how much i need to eat and it works for me.
that said, i do plan my meals so i make sure that i take all of my food to work and i also workout according to a schedule (body beast). sometimes i switch things up but mostly, i stick to the workout calendar and when it's nice outside, i run a few miles in addition to the workout i did in the morning.
i think the important thing is do things you enjoy.0 -
Bumping it back up. There have to be more people doing this. Maybe I should have posted over in success, but until I finish (as I enter this, I am 60% of the way to my goal and still making progress) I don't want to post there...0
