30 Day Shred - For Currently Somewhat Fit?

Hi there. I am working on losing weight/toning up/putting some serious muscle on my frame. I have some trouble with lower body - lots of fat on my thighs, around the hips, lower belly pooch. I am not in bad shape. I run and cycle regularly. I lift regularly to failure. I was wondering if anyone had good results from the 30 Day Shred who were already in decent shape? Or would it be better to just stick to my current gym routine and be patient for results?

Hello! I did the Shred last Fall, and had some pretty good results from it. I did Ripped in 30 before shredding, so I would consider myself to have been at an intermediate level of fitness (been exercising off and on for years)... I lost quite a bit in my stomach, which stunned me because that is the hardest place for me to lose fat. I would recommend doing the 30 Day Shred, but I would definitely suggest getting rest days as opposed to working out every day. A lot of people do 30 days on, but I saw results getting about 6 rest days out of the whole 33 I worked out to the video.
Right now I am doing TapouT XT, and just started Week 3 on Monday. I recommend that over the Shred! I'm firming up like crazy, burning anywhere between 300 calories (15 minutes) to tonight's record of just over 1000 for 55 minutes. Note, this was only Day 16 for me. Since you are already active, I'm sure that you would be able to handle the workout. I started at a beginning intermediate level (haven't worked out in months) and my endurance has skyrocketed in these few weeks. I'm noticing changes in my muscles, strength, clothes (went down a whole size in 2 weeks!), cardio level, and the amount of calories I burn. That's some big changes for such a short time! If you want to look it up, you can find the website online. It's a 12 week program, and although it comes with a diet plan, I decided to follow my own and have already lost 3.5 pounds doing so, plus over 5 inches in my body. I didn't eat very well these past 2 weeks, but am on top of it this week, and am sure I will have some great results this week. The workout is FUN! It's more of a fusion based workout, but includes calisthenics, resistance training, kickboxing, yoga, martial arts, stretching and plyometrics. All of those on their own are great for the body, so combined, they are amazing! Anyways, you can check it out for yourself if you would like to.
Good luck, and take care!0 -
I am currently doing 30 day shred and tomorrow will be day two. I just could not bring myself to do day two today with all that I have done today and my body hurts all over. So for me it may take 35 days but a ton of people on here and my friends have done it and they all show awesome results. It is all what you put into it. I am active and work out 3-4 times a week and it is rough to keep up. It is all about what you put into it and good form on the exercises.0

I say do it! I did 30DS in January to jump-start my fitness and I was thrilled with the results. I was previously running and cycling, but 30DS really pushed me to tone muscles I wasn't otherwise working. I was amazed at the strength I gained in my core and lower body. I really think there is something to the HIIT Jillian performs that will command change in your body.0

Im currently on day 6 of 30DS, I would consider myself quite fit, run 2-3 times per week 5-6 miles each time, completed half marathon end of last year and I work out at the gym twice a week. 30DS has tested muscles that I forgot I had and I am sweating after completing it, can't comment on results yet as not far enough in but I would say have a go and see how you feel after the first week, I am noticing that my thighs in particular are sore which is great as this is one of my problem areas.0

I was ok after day 1 but by day 3 was starying to feel sore, not major pain but knew I had worked, see how you feel after a few days as sometimes it can take a day or two before the muscles start to feel it. I think its called DOMS (delayed onset muscle stiffness/soreness) it can be 2 days after that you really notice it.0 -
Hi,
I thought I was in an ok shape because I did spin and went to the gym and loved it! I honestly think it doesn't matter how much you've done execrise before, this work-out is designed to shock your body! It works muscle groups you never even knew existed. I am like you, I have huge thighs, huge hips and a wee stomach pouch I can't get rid off :-( I'm not saying you have big legs btw lol, just going by what you said. I only ahad 2 rest days because I've tried this so many times and was afraid if I stopped then I'd never start again! Keeping the shred as a part of my routine and adding in some more of her DVDs.
I lost 5.2lbs and below are my measurements. Feel free to add :-) Good luck!
