Stuck

Hello everyone!

I'm 5'7 and currently weigh 144 lbs, I've lost nineteen pounds so far and looking to lose another 4 as of right now to reach my goal of 140. I run five miles a day (all up and down hills outside) and lift probably five times a week but nothing really heavy. I am eating about 1200 calories a day.

I was losing weight pretty quickly and now I have been stuck at this weight for a while... does anybody have any suggestions as to what will help speed it up a bit?

If I knew the answer to everything I wouldn't be asking, so please don't reply with rude answers; just looking for advice! Thank you : )

    Hello. I was having a similar problem last week and everyone advised me to up my calories (I was eating 1200 calories). I amended that to 1400 calories and dropped 2lbs in the same week, I was estatic. We are a similar weight too.

    You are doing a lot of exercise but your calorie intake is very low. Maybe try the same and you might see a change :smile:

    You are not eating enough, for sure. That being said, you are only trying to lose 4 pounds. That means that you are already right where you want to be. No one can maintain there weight at an exact number. If you are a few pounds from where you want to be then you are doing great. I woukld say it's time to stop worring about losing weight and just enjoy the fact that you are already there. Eat more and keep working out.

    My dietitian and physician suggest that during stalls changing up exercise routines may help, but the biggest thing is to lower intake of sugars, natural or other and focus on lean protein. Keep things low carb and low fat for a bit and see how that goes. I did not view your diary, so you may be doing this already. Hope you find answers and drop those last 4 pounds!

    One thing I would say from seeing your diary most days as we're friends, is that you often don't net 1200 calories- you'll often eat just under 1200 calories, but will have burned off 500 or more in exercise- and it's always really energetic exercise!

    I do sometimes look at your day and think "there is no way I could do that exercise on that diet".

    This is normal and what they said! increase ur calories intake...

    1200 is not enough and u are burning so much daily which make it not balanced!

    so increase ur intake and u will see an amazing results soon!!

    you should up your calories up to about 1850 or so. Based on your height, age, weight and activity level. Do this and switch up your workout every so often and you will be darn glad you did.

    Ah, I know how you feel! Have you tried a day of reefed? That seems to help me when I'm stuck. When you're on a diet with a low amount of calories and a low amount of carbs, and as you're fat % drops, the level of lepton increases in your body. Lepitine is a hormon that is involved in regulating the appstite and bodyweight. By having a carbday/refeed where you eat about 120 g carbs, you can manipulate the lepitine level to increase.

    First, as other stated, you definitely need to eat more. Second, I would suggest dropping to cardio to 1-2 days a week. Running is just a huge calorie burn which will require a lot of eating. And since you are only eating 1200 now, it would probably be difficult to double that amount. Also, don't worry about weight, work on composition. Heavy lifting will help you maintain your muscle which is ideal. Just have a small deficit, lift heavy and do a little cardio and you will see the body changes.

    eat more, lift heavier things, add some HIIT into your running.

    Totally agree on the heavy lifting part (and eating more part)! Gaining muscles by lifting and eating lean proteins, will help maintaining your metabolism both when active and inactive.It's also a good way of making sure you lose fat, not muscles. A little muscles looks pretty good too ;-)

    Add 100-150 calories a day from Carbs only. Add some HIIT twice a week. Should have the 4lbs gone in 2 weeks. :)
