Today is the first day

Today is the first day of the rest of my life without soda :(, instead of my usual mt dew this morning I popped an Excederin and a big glass of water. Wish me luck I'm gonna need it.

It doesn't help that I feel like the walking dead this morning because my daughter didn't sleep well, but that's life, there is always a 'good' reason not to quit TODAY but I got to push past that and just do it because really life is full of 'good' reasons not to quit TODAY (and wait till tomorrow). The damn thing about tomorrows is there is always another tomorrow.

I was hesitant about posting this before I actually quit, ya know just incase I mess up and have a mt dew. But I am more likely to stick with it if I am accountable and have support.

That is to true I always looked at the situation and thought I will tackle my weight problem tomorrow!! Mt Dew is the devil and you will be better off with out it!! Good luck and when its shouting you just keep your self busy you soon forget that you loved the stuff in the first place. I used to be terrible and always have an afternoon snack of Steak Mc Coys and Maltesers at work just because I was bored and Steak McCoys were so yummy I spent many aday having a bad day and thinking ill give up tomorrow. So I have now tried the trick of having no cash on me and not buying them. If its not there you can't have it and your craving will have to just put up with that!!

    Good Luck!

I got a very strong craving this morning around 9am, I was pacing, what saved me is not having any in the house. I guzzled a 12oz water so i wouldn't feel thirsty.
It's almost 10am, I would normally have my second 'breakfast' at this point and I am not as hungry as usual.
By eliminating mt dew, I am not only eliminating calories and caffeine but also sugar, the high amounts of sugar all day long leave me craving more sugar and feeling hungry more often.
Eliminating my dew benefits me 3 fold. Makes you wonder why I didn't stop sooner! I know I will feel worse before I feel better.

But I am already loving looking at my food journal and not seeing half my calories used for a drink.

You rock! I am so proud of you for taking this step. I have been reading your other posts and I know that it is a battle. Stay strong today (the 2nd day is always the hardest, I think) and remember what you goals and rewards are. You deserve a better future and that includes no soda!!! Sending you a virtual hug.

You can do it!!!! As someone who also has a soda addiction, I know how you feel. The caffeine headaches and cravings were TERRIBLE the first week. But I kept it up because I knew I could do it. And you can too!

Former Mtn Dew junkie here...I have zero cravings for it now. Grosses me out to think about it and, like you, seriously don't want to see that many calories for a drink on my food log.

I have literally been taking it one hour at a time, I start out the hour thinking how hard it is and desperately I want some but I tell myself just get through the hour and then I do.

If I can get passed the second day I am all set ... so we will see

It is amazing to me to look at my food log and see how many calories I still have left for the day, if I am successful at quitting the mountain I can imagine the initial weight will come off easily.

I made it ntil 4pm and I had half a can, 6oz, I had been craving it so much and then when I had the 6oz I was fine afterwards. I didn't feel the strong desire to drink more, even with the half a can I am really proud of myself.
