I HATE DIETS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate diets for me they never work and it feels like I am missing out on all the fun. Today I was doing great! Healthy Cereal for breakfast, Salad for lunch and dinner and a few snacks here and there (nothing horrible). I even went for a walk, bike ride and did palates today. But as soon as 7:00 p.m. came….. BAM the hunger train hit me! My sister came home with fun size candy bars and I ate three of them. I had to run some errands with a friend and she wanted to get something to eat and could not resist getting a Small Fry and Frosty at Wendy’s just because she got some and they looked soooo good. That brought me WAY WAY over my calorie intake for the day. HELP!!! I need to stop eating just because other people are. Does anyone have any tips?

i think part of your problem is that you're looking at this as a "diet". i don't believe in diets. i believe in making healthy eating choices to support my active lifestyle. Find foods that you crave (healthy foods) or add some spice to some foods that you are sick and tired of eating. For example, i eat salads constantly (surprisingly, i crave them)... however, it does get very old. So today, i added some tuna (mixed with some miracle whip and tabasco sauce) to add a little kick to it! my taste buds loved it!!!
Get excited about cooking and eating healthfully! it'll make the transition to your new healthy lifestyle (not diet) more enjoyable!!0 -
This is where i become as people say :"STUCK UP SNOBBY AND INCONSIDERATE... so I just do what i want and its my body..so I just say no... and yes people get mad at first but when i started loosing and they could tell they shut up..lol.... DO WHAT MAKES U HAPPY:bigsmile:0

I think it's all about baby steps. I have never 'dieted' because even the word is a buzz kill to me but I am trying to eat healthier. People eat junk food all the time at my work and so now I just try to eat less. Like I'll split a cookie with someone instead of eating the whole thing. I'm not into telling myself I can't have something and if I had to think about not having cookies for the rest of my life it wouldn't even be worth it. So I guess maybe it's about portion control? Like today you had a small frosty and fry maybe next time you'll just want either a fry or a frosty. But look on the bright side- you didn't ask them to biggie size it, so that's a small victory.0

this isnt a diet. They havent given you foods you HAVE to eat. you can eat whatever you want, when you want. The only person you answer to is yourself. If you have a bad day- it doesnt matter, start again the next day. it takes awhile to get use change habbits, you will get there, hang in there hun0

It sounds like you didn't have enough to eat during the day... For example, this is my day today (and I'm losing weight more quickly than I want to right now, aiming for a total loss of 75-80lbs)
Breakfast: Blueberries - 0.25 cup
Nature's Path Organic - Instant Hot Oatmeal--Flax 'n Oats, 0.3 Packet
Island Farms - 1% Cottage Cheese Victoria Style, 1 cup
Lunch:
Vegetable Chicken Rice Pasta
Dinner:
Earthbound Farm Organic - Baby Spinach, 2 cups
Annie's Naturals - Organic Papaya Poppy Seed Dressing, 2 Tbsp
Home-Made - Baked Coho Salmon Filet, 1/2 filet
Realemon - Lemon Juice From Concentrate, 2.5 tsp
Yam Fries, 1.25 cup
Snacks:
Island Farms - Chocolate Raspberry Frozen Yogurt, 1/4 cup (125ml)
Island Bakery - Organic 100% Whole Wheat Bread, 1 slice
Ferrero - Nutella, 1 tbsp
Quaker - Crispy Minis - Caramel Kettle Corn, 2.5 serving(s) (7 rice chips (14g) ea.)
Vegetable Chicken Rice Pasta
As you can see, I'm eating a lot and it's all through the day with a good mix of food groups. This kind of thing is what allows this change not to feel like any kind of sacrifice or diet, just a much better way of eating. Don't beat yourself up about today, just start fresh tomorrow!! Yep, this is a lifestyle. I eat a very wide variety of foods.
for example, for dinner tonight, I had a V8 can (12 oz)
and a bunch of chicken breast on a piece of whole wheat bread with turkey gravy smothered all over it. (believe it or not, it was only about 450 calories total, well, plus the V8 so about 550 or so) and it covered every food group except dairy (which is ok cuz I each cheese at breakfast and lunch) And it was only that high cuz I used a TON of chicken (I had the calories so I indulged a little).
That's just one of the many options I have. Yesterday I had a home made buffalo chicken wrap with lettuce, tomato, onions, and american cheese on a whole wheat wrap. Very yummy.
Day before that I had home made turkey chilli.
I can go on and on. It's just a matter of learning how to make your food differently, not so much cutting anything out or depriving yourself, if you do this and realize what a portion is for real (instead of what restaurants give you) then you should be fine.0 -
This is for you. This is not a diet. This is a change for the better. Something that you will do for the rest of your life. If you keep slipping into old bad habits, you'll get nowhere fast.
As far as eating with people and giving in...don't. Choose the right thing to eat and they will want to eat like you if they see you choosing the correct food.
I went to Wendy's once with my son and I can't tell you how much I wanted the Turkey Frescata!, but I had the side salad and a side of oranges! I walked out of there so proud of myself.
You can do it! Keep your chin up! and Don't give in! And if you want something, have a little and count it! Don't have the portion that you use to have!0
