To be fairly hungry most the day? I try to eat every 2-3 hours small to medium amounts of nutrient dense foods but by the time I get to mid afternoon I am already close to my daily 1700 cals allowed. Heck, an full avocado is 322 calories right there and I like to have one with a berry/banana protein shake in the afternoon... I know exercising will allow me to eat more of course. I find I am being over by about 2-300 last few days since changing it from 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. I know I am still going to lose even going over a few hundred a day but still, my question remains... is it normal when doing a cut to feel fairly hungry most the day to not go over calorie limits? I am hitting my macro needs too. (180-200g protein etc)

Don't know much but when I know I'm getting close to my calorie intake for the day and am hungry I just chug water like crazy, most or the time it helps. Wish I had more for you.0

thanks, I try to drink 3 liters throughout the day of R.O. water.0

It's normal to feel hungry when eating smaller multiple meals throughout the day because your body does not have a built in calculator near your stomach. Fitness pros that practice this drink 1 or 2 full glasses of water before every single meal. When you get tired of doing that, the other thing you can do is eat until you are full with 1 large meal.0

How tall are you? Judging from your picture you shouldn't be eating that few cals unless you're close to 5ft.0

I don't know if there is a singular "right" answer, but I've found that my body seems to adjust to whatever eating approach I'm on. Back when I was eating 5-6 times per day, I was never really full, but I was never really hungry either. Now that I'm IFing, I'm rarely hungry in the morning, then VERY hungry as my feed window approaches, but then rarely hungry during the feed window.
How long have you been on the deficit and how much are you eating?0 -
You're probably eating much less than you should and depending of your food choice you might be eating very little food. I eat about 1700 as well ( but I'm a woman and 5'6") and I'm never ever hungry.0

If your pic is you and you're 6ft, you can easily put 2300 away while dropping fat.0

well thats what MFP says. for my height, weight etc at lightly active lifestyle, and 6 times a week exercise and 1.5 lbs a week it has me at 1700 a day.0 -
use this instead:

I don't think you are eating enough... you might want to read this:

So you can properly set up your calorie intake. I am 5'7 female 157lbs and I eat 1700-1900 calories a day and losing 1-1.5lbs a day.0 -

MFP probably isn't taking into account the amount of mussel that you have, the other thing that I thought may help you is that your body doesn't registar liquid calories the same way it does food you eat so if you are hungry maybe try eating what is in your smoothie instead of drinking it. I used to drink a smoothie for breakfast and found I was starving by lunch time, now i have toast with pb and some fruit same calories but I feel full for much longer.0

your profile says you're trying to clean bulk... so why are you eating only 1700 cals/day? why are you even in a deficit at all? If you're bulking you should be eating over your TDEE.
If you've finished bulking and you're just starting to cut, 1700 still seems really low... if you want to preserve lean body mass while cutting I'd recommend not eating less than TDEE - 10% I have a hard time believing that 1700 cals/day is that.
BTW the MFP default values are waaaaaaaaay off. MFP predicts I'll maintain at 1500 cals/day.... I'm actually maintaining at 1900-2000 cals/day (doing only lifting and no cardio). 1500 cals/day is way too low for me.0 -

Eat more, slow down your weight loss. 1 or 1.5lbs per week is too aggressive. It'll be hard to sustain (as you're seeing).0 -
Do you eat back your exercise calories?0

ya it appears I am under what I really need. I am going to up it to about 200-2100 a day.0

I believe she meant QFT = "Quoted For Truth." Or at least that is what I have gathered from context on the boards.0 -
You aren't eating enough. You shouldn't feel hungry all the time because of a deficit, unless the deficit is too large.0

I have heard other wise from a fitness model that it is mentally tough and strenuous to be in a decent deficit. so hmmm0

When I was eating too little (1200 calories) I was CONSTANTLY hungry.0 -
and the other thing is I am trying to keep as much muscle as possible while cutting up for summer. I am taking 2 scoops of BCAA a day and some glutamine. Also keeping the protein high from good sources like egg whites, shakes and chicken/fish0

It's normal for me to feel ravenous right before a meal, satisfied after and not hungry but not full between. If I'm thinking about food all day, something's off.0

That's great!
And that's what I'm talking about. If I kind of want to eat something all day long, I bump up my intake 50-100 calories. I should be "not hungry" and not thinking about food between meals and not able to to think about anything else right before them.0
